I've tried the Cateye 300 and think it's a great
addition to cycling lighting resources.

It's true the battery life is greatly extended.
It's true that my '300 light did not appear as bright
after using it for 3 hours.

It's true that Cateye Micro's are brighter with "fresh
" batteries than Cateye 300's after two or three
hours....

What I'd, like to hear about is a "helemt" system
light that could be interchanged with a bicycle
mounted units.

I'd use three of them. One "long-beam", mounted, one
"short-beam" mounted, (or as a backup) and one helmet
mounted. Interchange as necesary, or have auxillary
power-pack on bike for all-night life of mounted
lights. (it would weigh nothing when empty)

The key to the system would be the ease of switching
units between helmet and mounted usage. AS well as
switching the bike mounted and cyclist's helemt power
packs..

Anyone ever see that?
