Santa Cruz Randonneurs’ 2022 Events

Registration is open for our 2022 events. More info and entry can be found at:  https://santacruzrandonneurs.org

Most of the events begin and end in Santa Cruz, California unless noted otherwise. Most of our routes feature scenic riding in the coastal hills and valleys of the central coast region of the state. The only event with a cap on the number of participants is the 3CR 1000 km brevet in May.

*RUSA Rouleur series. Randonneurs USA has a new award to encourage new riders to work their way up to the classic randonneuring distance of 200 km. The five counting events are 100, 125, 150 km populaires, a successful 8-hr/120 km DART populaire team ride, and a 200 km brevet. Santa Cruz will host all these events during spring except the DART team ride. Besides the 2/26 events, the populaire riders will share the same route and start time as the brevet riders until the populaire riders turn back to the start.

Sunday, January 2 – (King City start/finish)

Fort Romie 200k brevet

San Ardo-Greenfield 112k* populaire

A good season-opener on a gentle route to kick off the new randonneuring season. Riders will never be too far from King City in case harsh winter weather arrives and they need to cut things short.

Saturday, February 26

Gray Whale 200k brevet – the same ratio of feet of climbing per mile as Paris-Brest-Paris. Come test yourself before the big dance in 2023.

Pescadero 100k* populaire

Saturday, March 19

El Granada 200k brevet – a favorite SCR route for many riders. Bring your climbing gears.

Castroville 300k brevet

San Gregorio 130k* populaire

Saturday, April 9

Castroville 300k brevet

Gonzales 400k brevet

La Honda 150k* populaire. A hilly but beautiful route into the redwood forests.

Saturday, April 30

Surf City III 600k brevet

El Granada 200k* brevet

Tuesday, May 17 – (Santa Cruz start/San Luis Obispo finish)

3CR 1000k brevet – 75-hr time limit

Day One: Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay to King City

Day Two: King City to Carmel Valley to Big Sur to San Luis Obispo

Day Three: San Luis Obispo to San Luis Obispo in a big southern loop

Besides a bag drop for the nightly stops, there will be minimal support on this brevet and riders will be on their own. Rider limit of ~35-40 participants.

Details and entry info to follow in January.

Saturday, June 11

ACP centenary 300k brevet

We will use the Castroville 300 km brevet route to celebrate the 100th birthday of this classic randonneuring distance with other centenary events being held around the world.
