Hello all,

Wondering does anyone in the group have experience with SQlabs 612 active or non active saddle.

Thanks

As you can see on my blog, I have tried dozens of "tech" saddles, but keep coming back to leather. I am just too wonky I guess.

I have tried that one you mentioned and it was way too flat for me. The inside of my thighs rubbed a lot. I prefer a more rounded saddle like most leather models.

Cheers,

I have the ProLT and constantly slips forward. I am hoping for it to be flat since my current saddle does not provide a stable base unless I like sitting on my perineum. The sides curve in sooner without much sitbone to rest on. It appears it is built this way to be in a very aggressive position. Hoping this will solve it since I know what does not work for me and a flatter area may. If this does not work, I will know something else about sitting on a saddle and narrow the search.

I use a number of SQlabs saddles, I have one 612 Active which I find is okay for road but I was still getting a bunch of rubbing on the sides unless I tilted the saddle down.  I then bought a 612R which curves in more towards the nose which eliminated that problem. I now use the 612R as my primary saddle on all my road bikes and have put a good 20K miles on them both touring and rando. I still use the 612 but for gravel where I'm usually in a bit more of an upright position and not doing 16 hours days.

When you say rubbing, you mean on the sides of the nose of the saddle? I would think all 612 are the same except R which has a shorter nose and active just allows the rocking. If it is the nose you are rubbing, it maybe due to the nose becoming shallow due to the reduce nose of R.

I just looked up the 612 R again. It is recommended for moderate to aggressive riding positions which may explain the rub your speaking of. The more aggressive you sit, the narrower the saddle you need.
