is the travel agent that arranged trips for many RUSA members in 2003 - I looked at the spread
sheet he sent for a bill, but there were so many variables (airline prices, currency, optional
items) it is tough to give a number. Rough guess? $2K, plus food - but it could be totally
different now. Four years is a long time for this sort of thing. Plus, if you can deal with it
all yourself, it may be cheaper than it was with Claus, but then you would have to arrange
transfers, accomodations, everything yourself. Claus made it easy and as pain-free as
travelling to Europe with a bike could be.
Weather? France was in a heat wave that killed hundreds the month before, but broke two or
three days before the start. Due to not wearing enough clothing, I suffered hypothermia the
last night and spent two hours in the infirmary trying to get my core temp back up.
