It's been a while but last we agreed to disallow anyone to join the group and immediately post some generic photo's of an cycling related item for sale.

Since that time, new members have been allowed in under a "Moderated" status until they made cycling/randon related posts to the group.  New members that immediately attempt to post items for sale have been removed.

Currently we have a member that has contributed to our discussion topics multiple times that appears to own a business offering cycling related items wishing to post an add about them to the group.  I have no doubt this would not be some sort of scam.  This sort of posting was commonplace here in the past and list traffic is way down of late.  I have no objections to it but that's only one opinion.

Is this sort of posting something you want to see or perhaps not?

Thanks!

Personally, I'm good with it.

If it's a relevant post by an active member, it may be something of interest to me (or others).  If the post is for baby furniture or jewelry, I would be opposed, but I appreciate the entrepreneurs in our group and like the idea of supporting one of our own with a relevant business or going out of business notice.   Every once in a while doesn't feel like spam to me and thanks for asking :)

YMMV

Yes, might be useful to the group at large to see what cycling items are for sale.

I am not opposed to the idea as long as it remains cycling related items.  It’s tough to be in business for yourself and supporting one of our own is the right thing to do.

Hi Mark,

Why I am okay with this sort of post:
  • Long-time, contributing member
  • Items that are related to and support our sport
  • Once in a blue-moon advertisement
Posts that I would not be in support of:
  • First-time posting by a new member; and
  • no one knows them.
  • Unrelated to our sport
  • Deal too-good-to-be true (i.e., scammy)
  • Slew of advertisements
Thanks for the poll!
