I have a handful of Procurve switches that need to be backed up.

My router.db looks like this:

usancddswt01;hp;up
usancssswt01;hp;up
uscmdprswt01;hp;up
useugofswt01;hp;up
usggzsdswt01;hp;up
ushqzofswt01;hp;up
uslog00swt01;hp;up
usloginswt01;hp;up
uslogofswt01;hp;up
...etc...snip...

I can run:
/usr/local/libexec/rancid/hlogin -c "show run" usancddswt01

...and it connects, logs in, executes 'show run', and logs off...perfect.

When I run rancid-run however, it seems to be running clogin instead of hlogin.

Am I correct in thinking that hlogin should be running because
router.db lists the switch type as 'hp'?

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

$ rancid-run -V
rancid 3.1
$ /usr/local/libexec/rancid/hrancid -d ushqzofswt01.smiles.local
executing hlogin -t 90 -c"show version;show flash;show
system-information;show system information;show module;show stack;show
tech transceivers;show config files;show config status;write term"
ushqzofswt01.smiles.local
ushqzofswt01.smiles.local clogin error: Error: TIMEOUT reached
ushqzofswt01.smiles.local clogin error: Error: TIMEOUT reached
ushqzofswt01.smiles.local: missed cmd(s): all commands
ushqzofswt01.smiles.local: End of run not found
ushqzofswt01.smiles.local: End of run not found
;
$

I did notice that clogin shows the escape characters briefly (they
flash up at the router prompt) then disappear.

Do you have any special characters in your banner? The login scripts can get confused if there are > or # characters in the login banners.
