We are pleased to share an exciting new opportunity open to advanced women scientists based in Africa: the EMBL‑UNESCO Residency in Infection Biology Research, supported by the Friends of EMBL, the European Foundation for Urology (EFU), and the Runnebaum Stiftung.
This initiative is part of the Memorandum of Understanding between EMBL and UNESCO to strengthen collaboration in open science, capacity building in developing countries, sharing of scientific resources, and the promotion of gender equality in science.
The residency offers 3–6 month research placements within leading research groups at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)—one of the world’s top research institutions dedicated to exploring the fundamental principles of life across its sites in Heidelberg, Barcelona, Grenoble, Hamburg, Cambridge (Hinxton), and Rome.
Successful candidates will be hosted by an EMBL group leader and integrated into an ongoing research project. They will have the opportunity to:
