Hi there, I am looking for some feedback, back in the old days Block Parent http://www.blockparent.ca/  and Neighbourhood watch was popular. Is Block Parent still active in you neighbourhood, is the program still relevant in today's neighbourhoods.

Is there other programs that will help maintain the safety and security of our neighbourhood.
We replaced the CPAT neighbourhood watch with a google group and it has worked out well.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

We don't have any such "watch" group in our neighbourhood but our Facebook group gets instantly posted of suspicious activity is seen and that is very effective. We're a condo community but now have hundreds of children so safety is on everyone's mind.

Hi all, no specific or organized watch group in our neighbourhood. Watching the side streets would be particularily difficult as we have a tremendous amount of street activity, day and night, from the Queen St Bars and Restaurants.

Hello All,

I send out the e-Newsletter for our ratepayer association for the St. Andrew’s neighbourhood (north-east of Yonge and York Mills), but we receive very little feedback from the recipients. Information does come to me (for example, one neighbour often reports incidents handled by a private security company that has contracts with some property owners, sometimes people send me still or video images of intruders from their security system, which I’ve included in our e-Newsletter).

There is no Block Parent or other such effort active in our area.

We have no formal Block Parent-type watch system in Cabbagetown.

Nearly a year ago, after polling residents for feedback, we set up a "Crime Alert" system whereby residents can report any kind of criminal activity (from vandalism to bike thefts to more serious crimes such as assault) to us and we then share the news via our communication channels.

A recent alert led to a stolen bicycle trailer being recovered:
https://cabbagetowner.com/do-you-recognize-this-thief-bicycle-trailer-stolen-august-17-2016/

We had communicated news of the theft via Twitter, Facebook, Website and we also have 110 residents (of 548 who receive our email newsletter) who have subscribed to be emailed whenever there is a crime report.
