Hey y’all,

Happy Monday!!! What a spectacular weekend. Hope you all enjoyed the bliss of sunshine & relaxation.

There is a TON going on here at RAN with the Ag campaign, all very exciting. I want to give you a short update and ask that you please leave a quick comment to Cargill on our blog since Mark Murphy left a comment there for the FIRST TIME in over 3 years.

1.       We were in Reuters last week re: one of the largest palm oil companies in the world, IOI, getting censured by the RSPO for violating the Principles & Criteria (we were part of the filing body who brought the grievance officially to the RSPO). We are escalating the campaign here in the US – stay tuned. Check it out: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/07/malaysia-palm-ioi-idUSL3E7F71C220110407

2.       Late last week we sent an invitation to Cargill CEO Greg Page from our ED Becky Tarbotton and Orangutan Foundation International Director Dr. Galdikas. We implicated Cargill in Born To Be Wild as one of the key reasons baby orangutans are getting orphaned and invited 100 Cargill employees to see the film on RAN. Check it out: http://understory.ran.org/2011/04/07/ran-invites-100-cargill-employees-to-born-to-be-wild/

We need your help, Please TAKE ACTION:

Read Cargill’s comment on the Understory blog link above (and mine below it), then leave a quick comment to Mark Murphy reminding him that until Cargill adopts a palm oil policy to put safeguards in place to prevent further orangutan habitat destruction, the company remains responsible for the displaced orangutans in Born To Be Wild (and add in any personal anecdote).

Thanks! You are all awesome. Hope all you in the Twin Cities had a rockin time with Hillary in town – she sure did ; )

Go get ‘em,

Ashley

"This extraordinary time when we are globally aware of each other and the multiple dangers that threaten civilization has never happened, not in a thousand years, not in ten thousand years. Each of us is as complex and beautiful as all the stars in the universe. We have done great things and we have gone way off course in terms of honoring creation.   Inspiration is not garnered from the litanies of what may befall us; it resides in humanity’s willingness to restore, redress, reform, rebuild, recover, reimagine, and reconsider." -- Paul Hawken
