Hey friends!
Please join us next Thursday, May 17 for a powerful delivery of 17,416 petitions to Cargill. May 17 is an International Day of Action to Save Tripa, one of the most important tropical rainforests remaining in the world today as it houses the largest remaining population of critically endangered Sumatran orangutans.
WHAT: Petition delivery to Cargill at their HQ in Wayzata. We will take a group photo holding a powerful visual of over 17,000 petition signers in front of Cargill's sign and see if we can personally deliver them to an executive inside.
WHEN: Thursday, May 17. Meet-up at 10:30am, will return by 12:30pm for an optional lunch on RAN.
WHERE: Meet in front of Powderhorn Park (3400 15th Ave S.) and we will carpool to Cargill's HQ in Wayzata
WHY: There was a
major tragedy in Tripa rainforest in late March and April, which continues to threaten the survival of critically endangered Sumatran orangutans. As over 92 fires smolder, palm oil companies like Cargill are racing to deny the role they've played in the destruction and devastation of the Tripa forest. We've gathered thousands of petitions to Cargill CEO Greg Page throughout the past couple of months, calling on him to take action now and adopt critical supply chain safeguards that would prevent Cargill from profiting off the destruction of tragedies like the one under way in Tripa.
MESSAGE: Today RAN is delivering Cargill 17,416 signatures of people who want the company to adopt safeguards on its palm oil supply chain. That's more signatures than all the individual Sumatran orangutans, tigers, elephants and rhinos combined.
Please let me know if you can make it and if you are willing/able to drive. So far we have two vehicles and a photographer confirmed.
Finally, we will be finalizing the visual for delivery on Wednesday May 16. If you want to help with that project, let me know!
Hope to see you there!
Ashley

have done great things and we have gone way off course in terms of
honoring creation. Inspiration is not garnered from the litanies of what
may befall us; it
resides in humanity's willingness to restore, redress, reform, rebuild,
recover, reimagine, and reconsider." - Paul Hawken
