Domingo Velez Borrero, mentioned as Vicente Ramos Colon's Grandfather and our Great Grandfather X5, is bequeathed a sum of two hundred pesos in the will of Priest Joseph Ramirez de Arellano, who died in October, 1819. I'm not at all sure what church, but given the large amounts of cash left to relatives and his Ramirez de Arellano surname I'm guessing San German or Mayaguez.

Hacemos saber: Que por del Presbitero Dn Pedro Joseph Ramirez de Arellano, Notary Mayor que fue de esta, se hallan vacantes les Capellanias que obtenia y son las siguentes. Ochocientos pesos impuesta por Don Miguel RdeA por disposicion de sus padres Don Juan RdeA Y Dona Ana Martinez de Espinosa, otra de doscientos por Miguel RdeA Y consorte Dona Juana de Matos: Otra de trescientos por Dona Maria RdeA; otra de Dosmil doscientos por misma; Otra de doscientos por Don Pedro Martir RdeA; otra de igual cantidad por Don Domingo Velez Borrero y consorte, Dona Rosa de la Seda; y otro de mil doscientos cincuenta que dice mando a imponer Dona Ana Maria de Ochoa y Brabo.

We know: That of the priest Don Pedro Joseph Ramirez de Arellano, Notary Mayor here, they are vacant and are Clergymen who got the FOLLOWING. Eight hundred dollars imposed by Don Miguel RdeA by disposition of his parents Don Juan RdeA And Dona Ana Martinez de Espinosa, another two hundred by Miguel RdeA And Dona Juana de Matos consort: Another three hundred by Dona Maria RdeA, another two thousand two hundred by itself; Another two hundred RdeA Don Pedro Martir, another of equal amounts Domingo Velez Borrero and consort, Dona Rosa Silk, and another in 1250 that says command to impose Dona Ana Maria Ochoa and Brabo.

Please correct translation where needed.

I wouldn't translate "pesos" into "dollars" before the U.S. invasion of Puerto Rico. It's not the same currency. Colloquially, dollars are referred to as pesos in Puerto Rico, but that started after PR became a territory of the U.S. in 1898.

Thank you Alexcarlo.  I will use pesos from now on. 

This is the better part of a will for Pedro Joseph Ramirez de Arellano. Do you have any idea why the book would include multiple versions of this document. It seems to have been contested, especially in the 'inquiry' the Church engaged in after Joseph's death. Numerous pages are spent on the fight for the open post and the hearings.

Could you translate 'Chapliancies' for me? I am iffy on the meanings of the phrases yet.
