I'm going crazy since I upgraded from Windows 10 v1909 to Windows 10 v20H2. Under the old system, I had no problems streaming videos from my PC to various Roku devices throughout my house by connecting to the Windows Media Player DLNA server. However, since the upgrade, DLNA has been, at best flaky, and at worst, non-existent.

Turned on streaming under Network and Sharing Center
Turned on "Automatically allow devices to play my media" in Windows Media Player
Enabled Windows Media Player full access through the Firewall
Ensured that "Network Discovery" is turned on for both private and public
Doublechecked to make sure that all drives were shared
Ensured that the PC never goes to sleep
Turned off my VPN
Rebooted several times
Installed Plex

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem, other than reverting to my old version of Windows 10? Is this a known issue with 20H2? Will the same problem occur if I install Windows 10 v2004. There are hints on the Web of something called SMB protocol changing in 20H2 that is causing problems with NAS connections. Could this be the problem, and if so, how can I fix it?

I finally have everything working... I think. After applying every recommendation that I could find on the Web (deleting Windows Media File folders, allowing everyone to share everything, etc.) I suddenly discovered that no matter what I did, I could not turn on streaming either from Windows Media Player or under Network and Sharing. Clicking the button simply grayed out the button for a moment and then came back to "Turn on Media Streaming."

The NAS is now working because of the SMB settings that I changed, I suspect. But I can't be sure. Matlab is also running. It seems that, in addition to every major update of Windows increasing my horizontal and vertical icon spacing by a factor of 30 each time, it also deletes my desktop icon for Matlab for reasons unfathomable.

One last tidbit. One of the suggestions for fixing the streaming problem was to turn on Windows Search Indexing in Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows Features On and Off. There is no listing or option for Windows Search Indexing there in my Windows 10 installation.

A change in Windows 10 v20H2 did not introduce a bug into the SMB implementation but does reveal weaknesses in the SMB implementation of some older devices (I wrote about my findings here: -nebbett.blogspot.com/2021/06/mapped-network-drive-reconnection.html) - the link does include a workaround which normally alleviates the problem.

The DLNA problem is probably something different. Do the DLNA server(s) show up under the "Network" item in Windows File Explorer? I think that all of the DLNA servers should appear here even if the system that you are using is itself a DLNA server.

Does this offer a clue to the source of the problem with my desktop PC? Given that there is no compatibility issue with the hardware, is it possible that there is a setting in my BIOS/UEFI that 20H2 does not like? Do you have any other suggestions?

Do the DLNA servers appear under the "Network" element on your laptop? There are some "big guns" (powerful analysis techniques) that we could try to bottom out the problem, but let's start with small steps first.

Unfortunately, a brief description of the hardware is of little use to me when trying to understand this problem. There is no particular reason to believe that BIOS/UEFI settings could/do have any impact on the observed behaviour.

The laptop does not see the DLNA servers from the main PC, nor do any of my Roku devices. If I cannot fix this problem shortly, I'll have to recover and revert back to v1909. Do you have any idea if an upgrade from v1909 to v2004 would cause the same problem?

Regarding the NAS drive and the test that I mentioned, the key characteristic is a preponderance of lines starting with "SMB send[0]: [NEGOTIAT]" (the end of the line is not important, in this context); an occasional "SMB send[0]: [NEGOTIAT]" is just normal behaviour.

I'm sorry that it took so long to respond. I couldn't wait any longer and I restored my system to v1909. Another thing that I discovered was that I had Matlab installed on my system with various toolboxes and, after upgrading to 20H2, Matlab lost all of the toolboxes. It may be that Matlab acts as a server for these. I can't be sure. But that was the final straw.

Everything is working perfectly again. Shortly, I will attempt to upgrade to v2004 (the system wants me to do so) and I'll see if that causes the same issues as 20H2. If so, I'll have to restore the old system again. If not, then we'll have another clue as to the problem.

Well, I scrogged myself again. I allowed my PC to update to v2004. Once again, I no longer can see the DLNA servers anywhere, and it destroyed my Matlab installation. However, after going to "Turn Windows Features On or Off", I checked SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support, SMB 1.0/CIFS Client, and SMB 1.0/CIFS Server, but left unchecked SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal. Now I can see my NAS drive in the Network window of both machines, although I still haven't been able to map the drive to a drive letter yet. It's odd that this feature didn't need to be turned on in v1909.

So once again, if anyone has a suggestion for solving this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it. At this point I'm not even sure that I can restore the PC to an earlier version of Windows, and If I can, I'm unable to update it ever again. Gary, I'm ready to try those Big Guns that you mentioned.

Recently my windows 11 laptop quit streaming my ARLO cameras. I've tried Chrome, Edge and Firefox, but nothing. I don't get an error, other than after a minute or the screen says "An unexpected error occured". Can anyone provide a solution to this? Thank you.

Does it work using a phone app? Have you recently added or upgraded an Internet security software to your computer? Have you rebooted the computer as well as tried another one? You can use a mobile browser when set to use the desktop version of the site.

Yes, Streaming works on my phone and no I have not added/modified/updated my Laptops security. I also have a Surface Pro using Windows 10 and it streams Arlo Cameras just fine. It's only on my (newer) Windows 11 Laptop where I have this issue. And, it doesn't matter what browser I use AND I have looked extensively at my security settings. Finally, I can stream saved vidoeo (i.e. video clips my cameras have taken). I just can't stream live video on my Windows 11 Laptop.

Haven't seen a response. Does that mean you don't have any solution for me? I noticed that if I access device settings that camera streaming works. It appears that streaming just doesn't function when trying to stream from the Dashboard.

Please reach out to the Support Team to further investigate this issue you are experiencing. You can find several options for contacting support though the Arlo Mobile App by navigating to Settings/System/Support.

Same issue here, I can access live video on my Samsung s23 Ultra. However on my PC, running windows 11 using chrome based browsers, such as chrome and Microsoft Edge, all my camera's just won't run live. Yet, if I use Firefox, everything works. So obviously its a chrome/ edge issue, in windows 11. Not good enough for Arlo to say that in my case Arlo 3 support is coming to an end. You guys produce the software, and should rectify the issue, with the browsers, by providing a software update, instead of washing your hand regarding the issue. Many of us have spent a substantial amount of money, to obtain, a security system with you, and you still gleefully, accept our subscription fees, every month. So sort the issue out, and provide your customers. and subscribers with a solution, via a software update.

Firefox, I can actually manually get my cameras, to go live, but once I stop the stream, the images of each of my 5 cameras , are not updated. Arlo of android is fine - images update, and all camera's working as they should. So quite obviously its a browser issue, in Windows 11, and the issue was occurring before 23H2 update, and got even worse after 23H2

Not a PC issue, 6 months ago, everything worked - the issue is with chrome based browsers. My tower is very powerful, and yes it was self built 18 months ago. No worries then, but issues with Arlo, in the last few months. Only thing that has changed is Windows 11 Pro updates, driver updates, and AMD graphics card updates, which occur bi monthly.

Also disabled Windows defender, and Malwarebytes pro, -no difference. Hardware acceleration, is enabled in Chrome and Edge - disabling each makes no difference. I suspect the problem is within edge://flags and chrome://flags, but then Firefox, will run live video, but doesn't retain the image on the browser, as they all did before, and android on my Samsung S23ultra android 14 still does.

For personalized support specific to the Arlo products you own, access Support from within the Arlo iOS or Android App. Simply login to your Arlo App, go to Settings, Support, then select the Arlo product you would like support for.

My SONOS disconnects and reconnects to the WiFi network intermittently. Other streaming services have adequate buffering to maintain continuous playback, but [stream what you hear] apparently doesn't, resulting in start-and-stop playback.

There are tons of posts about how to stream computer audio to Sonos, almost all of which say you can't, or that you have to use a line-in approach with a Connect. I just did it wirelessly in less than five minutes and $0. Note this is only for Windows, and has a several-second delay, so it won't help with video or games, but audio is just fine. I know there is something similar for Mac, but I have not tried it, and have heard it might have issues.

Is there a fix for web videos out of sync? Whenever I play something on YouTube or any other web video, the SWYH sound lags enough to be visibly out of sync with the video and makes it very unpleasant to watch. Is there some way to adjust for this, or is it just an inherent limitation that makes SWYH suitable for listening but not for viewing?
