I have just registered on these forums because I have spent the past 4 days trying to get TVHeadend to work on my Netgear ReadyNAS server and Kodi clients. With a lot of help from elsewhere I now have UK Freesat channels on the clients with EPG data. To complete the setup though, I really want to incorporate IPTV using my existing m3u playlist.
The playlist that I am using has 17 channels in it, and works fine in my previous DVBLink setup and VLC player. Most of the channels in the playlist are in the m3u8 format, (I think this might be relevant?). I have put the playlist in my shared documents folder on the ReadyNAS and enter file:///data/Documents/IPTV_Playlist.m3u in TVHeadend Configuration > DVB Inputs > Muxes > Add Mux > URL. I can see the new IPTV one in the list of Muxes, but it fails to scan.
I am wondering if I need to do something different to my playlist file, or store in a particular place on the server, (such as TVHeadend's installation folder). The person who has been helping me so far has TVHeadend running on a RaspberryPi and does not use IPTV.
Thanks for your reply. Your instructions look to be what I was doing before, but I tried again and noticed that I now have the option of adding an "IPTV Automatic Network", whereas previously I'm sure that I could only choose "IPTV Network" (?). The playlist file has 134 entries, and the URL was entered as you have said. Other settings set as per your instructions.
That did not work. I then found that if I placed the same playlist file on Cloud storage externally to my home network and used the URL for that then TVHeadend could see it, so I'm guessing that there might be an issue with permissions when the file is stored on the ReadyNAS? Unfortunately, that is as far as it has got -*after* forcing a scan, in Configuration > DVB Inputs > Networks I now see:
Under Muxes, it has all 134 playlist channels as "Enable (auto)", all are Scan Status "PEND", and Scan Result "NONE". Forcing a channel from "PEND" to "ACTIVE" does not change anything. Under Services I only have the satellite delivered channels, but none of the playlist ones. Under Bouquets, "IPTV" is Enabled.
TBH, whilst it would be nice to get this sorted out, since my first post on here I have found a way to set the Kodi clients to look at the playlist on the external storage and include them in the EPG - which ultimately is what I wanted to achieve!
I cleared the Music app cache and uninstalled it's updates ,then updated it to the newer version from the Play Store. However, that didn't removed it. The playlist keeps appearing also in safe mode. I don't want to make a factory reset to my z2. Is there any suggestion for dealing with this?
It does not need any authorization. After you mentioned, I tried that in vlc as well, in vlc i tried it in a loop and it was working fine with little glitch. I am not sure why this stream is not continuous. If i hit play again, it works for another 30-60 seconds. I think link is just releasing segments. But it is not always 20 seconds, sometimes it goes to 60 seconds. So i think there is something else than authorization. Is there anything in emby to allow live TV to play it in a loop and keep it in cache so that I can watch live tv as s continuous stream.
I am new to this but in the playlist file doesn't EXTINF: -1, will try to stream for infinite time as it is a stream. If not how will i be able to add the request, will it be in playlist file or in the liveTV itself? Help would be really appreciated. Thank you!
I know this is an old thread but i do have a related question. I have quite a few playlist urls added to "Live TV", but when I pull up the Live TV page all the playlists are displayed together, on the same page bunched up.
Have you tried changing the app (android or IOS) streaming quality setting? Also, there is a setting on the APPs for hardware and software transcoding. I am not sure what other IPTV apps you've used, but Channels could have buffering issues at either the server or the app (or both).
I have tried both software and hardware decoding - no noticeable difference. I don't want to lower the stream quality - I would like to watch in the highest possible quality on my 4K television. Like I said, other IPTV apps are able to playback the stream in full quality. Those apps allow you to customize the buffer length up to 10 secs, which I think is the difference.
I just noticed a new(er) setting to stream using HEVC. After enabling that, if I load a M3U stream channel in Channels on my ATV 4K and turn on stats, it's still showing the video as H.264. Am I missing something?
We don't test our app with random IPTV services and M3U streams, because they tend to come from shady servers that are generally far away and not on great internet connections. If another app is able to handle those streams better, then you're best off using that app instead.
As i was still mulling over what the heck was happening, i realized my son had been in the other room watching a few iptv channels for awhile without buffering. I realized he was actually watching one of the channels i had singled out as a test channel since i was consistently having issues with it. This made me scratch my head and proceed to see if there was anything at all different with the two setups.
I found one setting different. The TV i have been having issues with had the Deinterlacing Mode under Settings > Playback > Advanced set to Hardware, while the tv that was working was set to linear (60fps).
@air360 thanks for the tip - I have been getting the same issue recently (also had the same issue in Plex with the same channels) - today I started to pull in a testing m3u with a small subset of my m3u channels to try to work out where my issue lies (I normally run the m3u into xTeve and then over to Channels/Plex) but this post gives me hope to get the ATV working properly without a shed load of playing around and rebuilding! I havent noticed buffering on FireCube or iphone/ipad but I dont really use those devices as much as I do the ATV so just thought it wasnt being used enough to manifest.
EDIT:
So for me, enabling Hardware as the deinterlace mode on Apple TV 4K seems to have worked for stopping buffering. As a side note, I am also running the beta of Channels app, and the weird stuttering I had when I enabled HLS also seems to have stopped by enabling hardware on deinterlace mode
This library has been optimized for parsing and generating M3U files quickly and efficiently. In my benchmarks, it performs better than iptv-playlist-parser, iptv-playlist-generator and m3u-parser-generator.
This project uses Changesets to manage releases. For you, this just means your PR must come with an appropriate changeset file. If you're not sure how to do this, just ask and I'll be happy to help, or read the changesets documentation on adding a changeset.
Probably an issue with the path to the FLAC file. Possibly the use of %20 for spaces or missing / or \ at the leading edge of the file path. No issues here with Playlists, just have to make sure to use the correct file path. Examples:
TwonkyPlaylists770399 78.1 KB
Well something is not quite right. I added another m3u playlist saved it, same as above, and it is not showing up in the Twonky server, Crowe Playlist 2CD. For whatever reason the First Playlist only showed 1/2 of the songs.
Each segment in the playlist is 10 seconds long and so for a 1h and 30 minute movis this would mean 90 mins * 6 segments/minute = 540 segments. To me, this seems like a lot to add to one .m3u8 playlist.
Turns out there was no issue, and presumably, no limit. When I tried the export again, it did the same thing as before, however, this time, I waited. After about 30 seconds, the it started copying. Seems it just takes longer to process with larger playlists.
I'm assembling a m3u8 playlist of TV live streams. The streams themselves are m3u8 files on the web. I would like to add icons the the entries of the playlist. Unfortunately I was not successful in that the VLC Player does not show any of the icon images.
I considered the problem to be that the icon images are located on the web. So I downloaded on of them the used a local absolute path to point to the image inside the m3u8 file. That did not change anything AFAICS.
Is it because the playlist is structured as m3u8 files inside a m3u8 file (which generally should be OK, at least others do it also)? Or is it because the nested m3u8 files consist of a couple of parts and the image should be declared in the nested m3u8s (which are out of my control)? Another potential cause could be that VLC is can only handle specific image file formats for the playlist. So far I tried only *.ico and *.png.
I will try to explain to you. He means that you can copy the playlist from your pc/laptop to the box through your local network. Sam asked you why you don't use m3u link instead of the m3u file but you didn't answer him.
Note: If you receive a message "Check playlist URL" on Samsung J series in latest app version, try uploading your playlist as a file (local playlist), not as URL. You can do it by putting the URL in any browser on your computer.
SAMSUNG QE55Q60TAUXXU (55" Smart Ultra HD 4K QLED TV) where I installed ottplayer or smartTV.club app for my own m3u playlist. But none of the iptv are playing in these apps. It is always saying either connecting or buffering but no video at all.
I just mentioned these two apps just for example. But if I install any IPTV video player app in my TV and give my m3u playlist nothing is playing. But same m3u list are playing perfectly fine in Firestick app(IPTV smarters) attached in the same TV. So, strongly suspect some issues with either
i have the same issue too. It's been working fine with SIPTV for almost a year and now suddenly it stopped loading channels, tried few other players - same problem. The playlist works just fine on any other devices, it's Tizen related issue i think and wondering what else may i try to have it working again
