to Rally to Restore Sanity Chicago
Hello all as promised this is my Daily Update on what our progress is
and our goals. We have a lot of news to report today. First I am happy
to announce that Groupon.com is going to give us some promotional
sponsorship.

On Wed Oct 27 they will include our rally on there site and in the
email blast they send out. Also we sent in all our paperwork to the
Park Dist (knowing we have to revise our Security Plan, it is in the
works) but he said most everything looks good and we have only minor
changes to make. He also said ok to 10 port a johns so we are not in
need of raising that budget as of now.Rally Members have been hard at
work making calls all day to T-shirt companies, Satellite providers,
Jumbo Tron Rentals, and the like. As well as helping with the Press
Relations where they can.A big need we have is some STRONG bodies to
help with the stage set up at 7am on Oct 30. Right now I only have
one rally member that said they could help with stage set up...I need
at least 9 more.Today Rally members also were a big help to get the
word out to friends via status updates, tweets, and personal emails to
family and friends.

I wanted to bring up one thing that has been brought to my attention.
Not everyone in the world is on facebook. In fact some folks are shy
when it comes to computers in general. You may know someone like
this, but they seem like they would really want to be part of the
movement. Please try to explain to them they do not have to JOIN
facebook just to look at the site (http://www.facebook.com/
rallytorestoresanitychicago) and they do not have to join facebook to
donate. They would have to join paypal or mail a check. But the only
reason to join facebook is to interact with the site (like posts, add
to discussions, comment etc) but it is not a requirement and all areas
of the page should be able to be seen and open without joining
facebook (they could even join this email list and get my updates if
they like)

Many of the people who I am speaking about above also are intimidated
by the idea of a 3 hour event. It seems long and tiring for lots of
different types of people (trust me I have a kid). Please know you
don't have to be at the whole thing, AND you don't have to stay the
whole time. It is just important that you come and be counted as one
of the many. If you know someone I might be describing can you also
pass that on to them.

We will have a line up of speakers soon, now that people are
confirming it is slowly coming together.

Two of the biggest questions I field ALL DAY LONG (at least 20 times
each) 1. Have you contacted Oprah? 2. Will the DC rally be broadcast
at our event?

1.A: Yes, she didn't respond to me, so you feel free to give it a go:
https://www.oprah.com/ownshow/plug_form.html?plug_id=220

2. A: Not if we don't raise enough money. It is last on my list of
need and will stay at that point. We need to hit approx $14,000 to
cover min expense before we look at paying for the Jumbo Tron.I would
list the costs again but they have not changed from yesterday with a
lot of ???? still unknown.

One thing I did leave off is a generator for the sound equipment. But
I dont' have a price for it yet but I did forget to put in on the
list. The only other cost that has come up today is the cost of
posters. Are you someone who would like to run around and hang up
posters for the movement? We can print them if you could tell us how
many you could honestly post (no time to get big heads when price is a
factor and a tight budget). Drop by the discussion tab on the fan
page and let us know what you can do so we can budget for the posters
to be printed (Thanks to Rally Member Anne for the print connect at $.
09 per flyer)Well thats it for tonight, keep spreading the word. We
have 10 days to do this!!!!
