to Rally to Restore Sanity Chicago
As promised here is your daily Rally update.

Well it finally happened. I tried hard but it got me. I'm sick. So
read the following update with that is mind as I write it with a foggy
brain.

I finally got around to redoing our immediate budget if you didn't see
it today here it is, I did update the Chipin page to reflect this
goal, we still have some unknown bits but here it is

$5000 security Deposit to the Chicago Park Dist
$2,900 for insurance for 10,000 attendees
$1,750 for 10 port a johns (most likely this will be where the park
ask for more)
Traffic controllers, a cost that I will get soon.
$75 to record with the State the NFP papers
$38 to file articles of Incorporation
$5 for the Money Order to pay the filing fee
$8 for Cashiers Check for Park Dist Fee
$275 penalty for taking donations before NFP status was granted
$800 to file for tax except status (or pay taxes on the donations
collected whatever is the least amount)
Staging $1,200
$1075 Sound Equipment
$200 T-Shirts (Volunteer/Security)
$1,863 Lakefront Maintenance cost (garbage pick up)

Additional Costs still not locked in
$680 for a single union worker
60-75KVA Generator with electrician for Tie-In
Stage Barricade (or Bicycle Rack with be sufficient)
Tripod Satellite Dish $199
Basic Cable $60
Poster Costs
Additional Insurance coverage for the LCD screen and Rigging

------------------------

I am excited to announce that http://www.creativetechnology.com/ is
donating a LCD screen and http://www.reedrigging.com/ is donating the
rigging to hang it.

This does come with minor costs. Those being Reed needs us to have
one union worker ($680) but Creative will require more labors and said
that we can not help to put up the actual LCD screen. They are both
also requiring that we additonally insure them and that might be an
more of a cost as well. We are also in need of a 60-75KVA Generator
with electrician for Tie-In to be delivered by 6:30am- and Stage
Barricade (Bicycle Rack with be sufficient and the cheapest
solution) ~150' will be needed to be delivered by 8:00am. If anyone
has leads on where I can find these things that would be very
helpful..

----------------

We need HELP putting the stage together. In order to keep our costs
down we need folks starting at 5:30am to help unfold the stage. Even
if you come that early and leave then come back for the rally. We
can't do anything until we get the stage open and we can't open the
stage without help. We have two or three folks right now and need at
least 10. I know its early but you will get a tshirt ;)

-------------------
That bring us to money, We have done soooo much in just 30 days. We
have only a few days left for a final push. And as it has been this
whole time money is in need. We are at $13,401.90 (I love the change
donations btw it makes me smile) We need to try to hit that $18,000
to cover our min costs...and lets not forget the kids. Anything over
that we are giving to Chicago Public Schools. So folks asked "What
happens if we don't raise enough money" the answer is I will cry ,
and do obsessive status updates in the days following the rally. But
the rally is happening at this point cause I have faith we will hit
that mark. We have a very little bit of wiggle room since some folks
(like the port a johns) have said they will bill us after the event.
I know I say it a lot, and trust me I am sick of saying it as much as
you are sick of hearing it...BUT give if you can, and please tell
friends.

PS yes we have tried to Call Oprah, Jon Stewart, and over 200
companies in Chicago asking for money. So far its up to us to make it
happen. And we are doing it.

On a final note we might change Park Dist Groves it will still be at
Jackson and Columbus but may be across the street. The Park Dist
thinks we are getting too big for Grove 4. That will be confirmed
after our meeting with them on Monday at 10am.

Stay sane my friends. I am off to rest.
