Dear
Friends,
We are absolutely delighted to have Rev. Shaun Song with us now after a lengthy visa process! His happy energy has already brightened our temple. Starting this weekend, he will be joining us by sharing his resonant chanting voice at our Saturday practice. And on Sunday morning, he will give a talk about his journey to North Carolina. Please join us this weekend to welcome Rev. Shaun.

This Saturday, we will offer a September Prayer followed by chanting and silent meditation.
For online participation, you can join us via this Zoom link for Saturday Meditation (10-11:15 am).
For in-person participation at the Chapel Hill temple, you may reserve a spot HERE. (You may also just show up if you are on our “anytime list”).
Outdoor temple deck: To join our practice on the deck, please bring a mat or folding chair. No mask is required for deck meditation.
For all these venues, please arrive a few minutes early and plan to stay for the entire session to honor everyone's practice.

Rev. Shaun Song grew
up in Youngsan, the spiritual birthplace of Won Buddhism. His parents were
teachers at Won Buddhist schools there. Immersed in the heart of Won Buddhism,
Rev. Shaun’s affinity with kyomunims and Won Buddhism naturally
developed. To pursue this path, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Won
Buddhist Studies from WonKwang University and his master’s degree in Won
Buddhist Studies.
After ordination in 2016, Rev. Shaun Song served as an assistant minister at North Gwangju Temple in Korea for five years; he taught mind practice, traditional Korean drumming, and English to children at the Temple’s childcare center, as well as mentoring the teen group. In August 2022, Rev. Shaun joined the North Carolina Temple community, and he is looking forward to living with, learning from, and supporting our sangha.
