so I tried installing all the driver available on internet with name of rtl8188EUS or rtl8188EU but nothing worked. Either they give an error like above or they just don't work.I think it is because my kernel version is
I tried to make my wireless adapter (TP-Link tl-wn722n) work with iwd, but soon I found out that iwd doesn't support the driver I installed. Is there a way to make wifi work with my wireless adapter?
You need to create a package for the kernel module, yes. Look at package/kernel/mac80211/realtek.mk in your local git tree, that's a Makefile that already builds multiple Realtek drivers for OpenWrt. You can (and probably should) adapt it to work with rtl8188eus too.
Keep in mind Realtek's support for their wireless drivers is erratic, the code you're linking to is out of tree, so it might break on 5.4 (it seems the most recent push was for 5.2). But it never hurts to try.
To me (I'm not familiar with Realtek wireless) it looks like this one might be a better candidate for you though, since it already supports the mac80211 framework - and also the driver you're looking for:
so i have installed some legacy drivers for my computer because i need to do so (one for nvidia-390xx which i fixed it myself by removing the packages and installing them again), and one for my wifi usb stick (realtek-8188), so i noticed something isn't correct and my wifi interface isn't going up successfully. whenever i tried to connect using wifi-menu this error throws in the console:
i can't connect to wifi, i tried to do any solution for this such as "connecting manually by creating the netctl profile" which all of them ended up with same error.
after that i thought the cause of it must be installation of the driver with aur package, so then i listed packges with
i don't think so, i read an article about a fact which there is a driver conflicting with it and you should blacklist it for me its "r8188eu"
so, i deleted the r8188eu driver and installed kelebek's driver for the device, however i could get the dongle working, but it couldn't find any networks around me, and i can't get it to connect to a network.
Are you currently on 5.16? Does the kelebek333 driver still work w/ the LTS kernel?
Did you follow all the other instructions on the rtl8188fu github page, notably installing the firmware and disabling power management and especially MAC spoofing?
Did you reboot after cleaning up the module situation (to reset the chip, in doubt perform a cold reboot where you first power off the system)?
I have a problem with a wireless usb adapter. it is the tp-link WN725N V2 . I have bought a couple of those earlier(bad choice) but managed to get them to work on a RPi in two other boards using these driver from here
So realistically I think getting a WPA2 or at least basic WPA connection working with self-made drivers is achievable. But the advanced features appear to be disabled for most of them (I must have read like 100+ blogs at the time with people suffering the same limitation).
Hi! I recently added a rtl8818eu usb wifi adapter an a new c2d build. This driver is shipped out of the box with fedora 34. And it was detected automatically by the gui. But when I type in the password for any network shown (only some are shown), it loads, gives an error and shows me the input boxes for password again. This goes on like a loop.
Oddly yes, i get the same result when i run find / -name rtl8188eu* thus showing it as already installed but the dongle still does not work. I am using another dongle for now that worked out of the box.
I have some experience of cross compiling and embedded developing, so I would like to build this driver GitHub - lwfinger/rtl8188eu: Repository for stand-alone RTL8188EU driver. which seems to be a possible solution.
Could please someone point me to the cross-developent tools (toolchain and kernel includes, I guess) for the Dwarf? @falkTX ?
On TP-LINK official website there is a Linux version but is only for Kernel 2.6-4.3, and the most current Kernel in Zorin is 5.15. Is there no way to make these drivers default to Zorin in the future?
If you have a RealTek USB WiFi Adapter or a laptop / notebook with built-in chipset in the previous list, do following steps may help you install the drivers in Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 20.10, Linux Mint 20.
I have had very little trouble with WIFI drivers on Linux. Just PC Linux that could not find my Qualcomm driver and Debian which I had to put on a wire to install a Broadcom the driver as it is proprietary and you must therefore install it yourself. Sorry to see a company as popular as Realtek not supporting or supported in Linux. Glad there is a fix though.
Hi, I have a hp laptop which needs a rtl8723de driver. After running through the above-mentioned solution, the wifi card is visible but is not connecting to any device. It tries to connect but fails every time.

The issue may be that there was never offical compatiblity for the TL-WN725N V1 with windows 10. The chipset maker may have made one but TP-Link never confrimed the V1 of this adapter would work with Windows 10. Also it has been seen that each time MS updates Windows 10 there is always a chance current drivers will not work or have issues. In situations like that the Chipset make in this case realtek will have to look at the cause and develop a solution for that chipset. Since we do not give offical support for Windows 10 the best solution would be to check with Realtek if this particualr chipset will recieve an update for the new Windows 10 build.
Disabling and re-enabling the network adapter, in network settings in control panel, uninstalling the network adapter and reinstalling it in device manager, updating drivers, rolling back to previous versions of drivers, checking for any outstanding windows updates using an ethernet connection.
Hey mate - you mentioned drivers but you didn't mention firmware. Firmware would be the first step i'd go through. You should also try and maintain your fleet to have the same version at all times. And where are you downloading the latest drivers from? You want to validate they are the right ones. I've seen the wrong ones cause this issue so many times, even when everyone thinks they are the same - sometimes identical models have slight variations on the wireless cards, this can cause you to need to install slightly different drivers. Also not sure whay your wireless infrastructure is like, you mentioned you have 4000 users - so sounds like a massive issue. I'd look for logs if it goes to authenticate and fails might be best to look up the security logs of whatever tools your using, should helpt to narrow down the why.
I am having the same issue with hp laptops. Wifi gets disabled, print spooler stops and audio is disabled. I have updated the bios, firmware and drivers but to no effect. 1803 is playing ball with these hp laptops
Try changing the MAC address of the wireless NIC and see if it then behaves differently. If your driver does not have the option to change the 'Network Address' in the advanced tab of the NIC properties, you can try Technitium:
Thanks for this I will try it tomorrow when back in work we are currently trying to get a spreadsheet together with information on MAC addresses and hardware names as well as driver version and as per Toxic_Potato suggestion, we will also start checking firmware versions as well.
It is weird that you only get the issue on some laptops. I have read on some Linux forums that it can occur because: "Quite often, the weak signal is a symptom of the antenna wire being connected to connection #1 on the card when the default driver is expecting to see the signal at connection #2". However that seems unlikely and updated systems get around this.
