The status of my printer is Ready in Control Panel. When I print, nothing happens, no printing, no error message. If I open the cover, the Resume light blinks, I close it, press the Resume button and it stops blinking. I ran the HP Print doctor wizard and it found everything normal. I changed USB cable. I tried on a Windows 8 laptop and on a Windows7 laptop. It used to run fine on Windows XP before.
It definitely is strange that your Deskjet 5440 is not printing for you, nor is it giving you any sort of error message. It's good to know that you already attempted some troubleshooting steps of you own which included trying a different USB cable and running the Print and Scan Doctor. Because this issue is affecting your Windows 8 and Windows 7 computers I have a feeling that this may be a printer hardware issue.
To start I would like to see if you can print a standalone report from just the printer itself. This will allow us to see if it truly is a hardware issue with your product. In order to print a standalone report you need to:
If this report prints fine it does prove that hardware on your product is functioning normally. Now as I mentioned before, if the product fails to print a standalone Printer Test Report than the hardware on your machine may be defective. You may notice while trying to print the standalone Printer Test Report that additional lights may blink on the machine. If you do notice any sort of blinking light pattern on the printer can I have you take a look at the Blinking Lights support document:
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're also experiencing printing issues with your HP Deskjet 5440 Photo Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving the 'resume light blinking' error state. Because you are not able to print standalone reports I do believe that what you're experiencing is a hardware issue.
The last step I would suggest trying is to ensure that your printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet for power. Power strips and surge protectors can cause printers to lack power. To verify that this error state is not being caused by some sort of power issue just plug it direct to a wall outlet and test standalone printing again.
I had my MB2020 printer running off an HP laptop with no problems. I now have a new Dell Latitude 5440. I was able to print but couldn't scan from the printer to my Dell. I've uninstalled the MB2020 printer but now I can't run the printer/scanner install. I get an error "FAILED TO ACQUIRE INFORMATION ON THE DRIVER AND SOFTWARE. CHECK THE NETWORK CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN."
My printer has internet connection. I tried running the install with and without a VPN connection. I worked with my company IT help. They said there isn't a firewall issue. They said the problem is the program is unable to get a connection to Canon.
Duplex unit optional, connection via USB For basic printing functionality use the HPIJS driver . For advanced functionality such as printer status and maintenance features, use the HPLIP driver (which includes HPIJS). The best printout quality you will get with the HPLIP driver, provided by HP (compatible to the HP DeskJet 990C), especially the 1200-dpi high resolution mode gives excellent photo quality (the rendered bitmap is 1200x1200 dpi, but the printer hardware does an interpolation then and prints with the printer's highest resolution). Also the Gimp-Print driver is reported to work (Model setting: "pcl-900"). When used with HP's HPLIP driver, this printer auto-detects the paper type and ink cartridge type and does appropriate dithering and colour adjustment internally, controlled by the hardware. So when Ghostscript with the HPLIP driver only renders the image with 300 or 600 dpi, higher resolutions are used for the internal dithering. So if you insert photo paper, the printer will print in photo quality, no paper type choice in the driver's options is needed. There is also a special high resolution mode where the image is rendered in 1200 dpi and interpolated to 4800x1200 dpi by the hardware, without paper detection, intended for photo paper only. Current border-less (full bleed) support is 3-sided for paper sizes Oufuku-Hagaki or smaller. The HPIJS team is currently evaluating 4-sided large paper size (A4/Letter) or smaller full bleed support and expect to address this issue in a future release. The duplex unit does not work with Gimp-Print, use HPLIP, "cdj970" or "pcl3" instead. Consumables/Refills: One Color(CMY) + one Black(K) or Photo (cmK)
I agree. This is a driver issue. I have good luck just adding the WinPE driver packs, but for some reason others have issue. You could try downloading the model-specific CAB and importing the storage drivers from there or download the storage drivers directly from the laptop's support page, extract, and import.
So yes, the latest win pe driver pack from Dell has been added, I've also added the drivers as downloaded directly from Dell. I'm using Total control method so I can see the drivers in my Winpe folder, when I update the share I then replace the image in WDS.
step one, downloaded winpe from here -uk/000108642/winpe-10-driver-pack Opens a new window
step 2 removed all current drivers from winpex64 folder (normally I would just add but I'd read that you should replace)
step 3 imported new win pe cab
To confirm your winpe driver pack setup and the driver injection into the boot image, this is how mine is setup. I have over two dozen different dell desktops/laptops and use total control method as well. The actual drivers for each model are only injected at imaging, they aren't in the boot image.
As far as the WINPE driver pack, under OOB drivers, I have a folder I named WinPE. I import the Dell WinPE driver pack into this folder.
Now under Advanced configuration folder under your deployment share, go to selection profiles and right click -> new selection profile.
Find the WinPE folder you created and only check that folder. Save.
Then back in the properties window of your deployment share, on the Windows PE tab, make sure x64 is selected.
Then on the Drivers and Patches subtab, for selection profile, pick WinPE and leave the option selected for "include all drivers..."
Now you can update the deployment share and check the box to rebuild the boot images.
Once complete, replace the boot image in WDS.
Side Note: Prior to upgrading the WinPE drivers it actually failed after loading to windows with a BSOD, I only had the WinPE issue after loading the new WinPE driver pack (it was also on an old ADK), odd as that may seem.
As a precaution I added another new driver folder and only loaded drivers for the Lat 5530 driver pack in it as well, forced this in my task sequence where it injects drivers. This issue occurred for me on both Latitude 5530 and Precision 3571
The other related print features include the fit-to-page print, scaled print, multiple-page-per-sheet print, booklet print, poster print, and collate documents. The compatible printer cartridges include the PGI-450PGBK (Pigment Black), CLI-451BK (Black), CLI-451C (Cyan), CLI-451M (Magenta) and CLI-451Y (Yellow) models. However, these models have Xl ink tank variants that have higher print yield capacity for respective colors.
The maximum paper input load for this Canon PIXMA MG5440 machine is up to 125 sheets of plain paper through the lower cassette. Whereas, the upper cartridge of the device will take up to 20 sheets of photo paper. Furthermore, it has a direct disc print tray that will accommodate only one printable CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray disc. The lower cassette allows standard paper sizes like the A4, A5, B5, letter, legal, envelopes, and photo sizes. Download Canon PIXMA MG5440 driver from Canon Website
Auto Check for Available Drivers & Software
Visioneer Update will automatically detect your scanner and check for the latest drivers and bundled software. You may choose to use Update or you may download only the driver and software you need from the links below. Be advised that many of the bundled software packages can only be downloaded through Visioneer Update or the installation DVD. For technical support, please contact us.
Visioneer OneTouch is a utility that connects scanner buttons with pre-selected destinations (and/or applications) and allows you to scan into these destinations by simply pressing one button. Destinations can include your email,Word processor, printer or simply a file folder.
Instead of selecting the HP Envy 5540 series printer when printing from an application, select 'HP Smart' from the list of printers in your application and use that. It seems that 'HP Smart' is a proxy that runs your printer for you.
Download the Hp Deskjet 5440 Printer Driver. After completing the download, insert the device into the computer and make sure that the cables and electrical connections are complete. After this, run the downloaded driver file to install and run the installation. It is important that the operating system is compatible when installing the driver. Please check immediately if your operating system is compatible.
Finally, this procedure describes how to run SunVTS tests ingeneral. Individual tests might presume the presence of specifichardware, or might require specific drivers, cables, or loopbackconnectors. For information about test options and prerequisites, referto the following documentation:
