My Carplay screen is below eye level so I do not want to look down at it to view the map for directions. I want the visual map (not the textual directions) to show up on my phone screen which is on a phone mount right by my eyeline which prevents me from taking my eye off the road and is much more safe.
It is just me or is that not an option to show the map on the phone screen? It seems baffling to me that such an oversight could happen from Google and Apple. Nobody wants to see the MapQuest like direction list on their phones during Carplay...people want to see the Map!
Recently I noticed that the 'Send to phone' option in Google Maps no longer displays my cell phone as an option. It only shows my email. I checked on my phone and I am signed in to the Google Maps app, my phone number is listed in my Google account settings and I have notifications enabled in the app.
So far I have used both for navigation via google maps....CarPlay works great. Android Auto works great, until the phone screen turns off- then it works for about 10 seconds, the cursor gets stuck in place and it says "Looking for GPS signal..." As soon as you unlock the phone screen it jumps to where it is supposed to be and works fine.
This may be a stupid question, but here it goes. Is Google Maps a standard (and pre-installed) application on every android phone? I am writing a map application and using a mapview to plot several points near a given zip code. I got that working. If Google maps is pre-installed on every phone, then i can just theoretically send Google maps my two points and it will take care of the rest, correct? Or will i have to go old school and program all driving directions myself?
Having said all that, I would expect the vast majority of Android devices DO include what you need. If you need to target Android phones without the Google code on them, I suggest you buy one - as they're usually crap they're usually cheap!
Replace paper processes and disparate tools to bring efficiency to mobile work with a single app that can be configured for the specific workflows of your mobile workforce. Mobile workers have the preconfigured field maps and forms they need on their mobile devices to efficiently and accurately complete their work.
ArcGIS Field Maps provides mobile workers with secure, 24/7 access to your organization's ArcGIS maps on their mobile devices, ensuring they have the most current information. Workers can easily locate assets and data and even add markups and notes to document and share findings with others. Maps are dynamic even in disconnected environments.
However, when we display it in smartphone (android version 9, chrome), it only shows a button to collect current location. Search window was also disappeared (this is important for respondents to easily get the desired location).

My wife and I were out hiking last weekend and at one point, we were confused with the signs and ended up taking the wrong direction of the track, which meant we were walking back rather than finishing the trail (which was a loop - we were at the southernmost point so both directions were heading north). My phone's GPS didn't help me as it had problems determining our position - all it did was telling us which direction we were heading, which I knew anyway.
So I started to research outdoor watches with built in GPS/Glonass/etc, assuming they would be more reliable in the wild outdoors. I stumbled over the Fenix 6, which seems gorgeous - but it's prohibitively expensive. And besides, while the map on the watch is probably as good as it gets on a watch, it still tiny compared to a map on a 6" screen smartphone. I also looked at the Instinct Solar, which is very compelling for its durability and battery life. While it has navigation, the map is obviously quite useless from the screen itself. It's really just a little black line plotting how you've hiked so far, with no other context.
Which leads to my question: when you're in an activity and the watch is connected to your phone, is it possible to see where you are on the map using the watch's location data? I read about LiveTrack, but my understanding is that that's for *other* people to follow my progress. Is there an easy way to "follow yourself" in a similar manner, using bluetooth (i.e. independently of a steady internet connection), so you can quickly pull up your phone to get a more detailed map and track of your hike when you need it?
You can view MyMaps in three ways:
1) In a web browser on a laptop or desktop (do this by following the link we provide in our confirmation email when you signed up for map access).
2) Within its own MyMaps app on smartphones (this requires downloading the app).
3) Within Google Maps on smartphone. If you already use Google Maps on your phone, take a look at the following steps.
Have you ever wondered what Google Maps can do beyond just showing you directions and routes? Google Maps comes with advanced GPS technology and location-tracking functionality that lets you pinpoint the exact location of a phone number within seconds.
Whether you are trying to track down a lost phone, find the location of a friend or family member, or investigate suspicious phone calls, Google Maps can be an invaluable tool. With its phone number tracking feature, you can quickly locate someone or reach a destination where they are located.

If you see limitations in Google Maps in determining the precise phone number location, it's likely due to security concerns. However, you can still determine someone's location using third parties, which we will discuss in the next section.
Tracking a cell phone number on Google Maps is particularly useful in situations such as locating a lost or stolen smartphone, keeping track of a child's whereabouts, or monitoring employees' movements. Here are the steps to track a cell phone number on Google Maps:
Mobile number tracker apps allow you to track the location of a mobile phone. All you need is the phone number and an active internet connection. You can track the location of the phone in real time. This can be a helpful tool if you're trying to find a lost phone or if you're trying to track down your child's location. Many mobile number tracker apps are available, so be sure to pick the best one for your unique needs.
Phone Tracker By Number is a location-tracking application that allows users to track the location of a mobile device by entering its phone number. The app is designed to provide real-time location tracking for Android and iOS devices and can be used to track the location of friends, family members, or employees.
Mobile Number Location app provides a GPS location of a mobile phone or device associated with a specific phone number. For instance, this data can be used to locate lost or stolen devices, track the whereabouts of staff and family members, or identify potentially fraudulent activity. It is also possible to use the application without an internet connection.
The Mobile Number Locator is another efficient app to track and trace any device with the help of a phone number. The application lets you view detailed information such as user details, network name, local area code, carrier coverage map, etc.
Are you having trouble finding the location of a phone number? With the rise of mobile technology, location tracking has become easier than ever. It is possible to find the exact location of a phone number even if you don't wish to use Google Maps or any third party application.
Conducting a reverse phone lookup can be one of the most effective ways to locate a phone number's location. With a reverse phone lookup, you enter a phone number and receive information about the person who owns that number. By using a trusted service such as WhitePages or TrueCaller, you can access the person's name, address, and even social media profiles.
If you choose to conduct a reverse phone lookup, it is essential to be aware that it is not always 100% accurate. This is because several people may own the same number or have recently changed their number. However, this method can be helpful if you are looking for a general idea of a phone number's location.
Social media is a great way to track down the location of a phone number. Such as Facebook and WhatsApp. By conducting an online search of the phone number in question, you may be able to locate a user's profile on one of the many social networking sites. Once you've found the user's profile, you can try to determine their location from their posts and pictures.
An IP address tracker is a powerful tool for tracking the physical location of a phone number. It works by using the IP address associated with the phone number to locate the geographic area it is in. This can be useful in finding out where a person is located and potentially even their exact address.
An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a distinct 15-digit code used to identify a mobile device. The unique code is beneficial for locating a phone number's location by tracking the IMEI of the phone. To use this method, you must know the IMEI of the device you are trying to locate. This information is usually found in your device's 'Settings' or 'About' section.
In the event that you receive a call from an unknown number, you may be tempted to ignore it. However, Google Maps lets you find out more about the caller's details and even follow his location. The maps application is handy for monitoring your child when they are out and checking their live location.
