Kathleen J. Stebe is Deputy Dean for Research in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Richer and Elizabeth M. Goodwin Professor of Engineering and Applied Science at The University of Pennsylvania. Professor Stebe has been a Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies; she has received the Robert S. Pond Excellence in Teaching Award at JHU, the Frenkiel Award from the Division of Fluid Dynamics of the American Physical Society, and was named a Fellow of the APS. Professor Stebe's focuses on research in soft matter, including particle assembly in complex fluids such as lipid bilayers. Other aspects of her research address dynamic surface tension, rheology of protein laden interfaces, and the design of interfaces for biological and materials applications.

Maria E. Ryan is Vice President and Chief Dental Officer for Colgate Palmolive providing oversight and leadership for clinical research efforts, leading the Dental and Dermal Clinical organizations, as well as Knowledge Management. Her focus is on innovation in clinical method development; enhancing global networks through Dental Health Units in Europe, Latin America and the U.S.; and engaging closely with key opinion leaders in this space. Dr. Ryan is a member of the medical staff at University Hospital at Stony Brook University Medical Center and currently serves as the President-Elect of the American Association for Dental Research. She is a nationally and internationally known speaker and author, has published over 75 scholarly works and holds several patents based on her work with Stony Brook University.
