Sub:     Pitiable state of Storm Water Drainage system in our area

We would like to introduce ourselves as the residents of

Rajeswari Nagar Residents Welfare Association

​"​

 and more than 160 families are there.

Rajeswari Nagar is located at Puzhuthivakkam (Ward No:169) which is part of Chennai Corporation Zone 14 (Perungudi), Sholinganallur Taluk, Kancheepuram District.

During the unprecedented rains occurred in November and December 2015, our Nagar had gone through lot of hardships. While the residents are healing from the tough time, we are writing this letter with a request to look into the storm water drainage system. It is a matter of fact that our Nagar is much below the connecting roads and main roads resulting even a little downpour of rains lead to water

stagnation (up to 4’feet height water in our nagar). 

During the rarest of the rare rain, our Corporation had engaged a JCB to clear the mud in the existing storm water drainage system. 

The storm water drainage system was broken with a promise that it will be re-built like in our neighboring areas to facilitate better draining system. However, till date, the improvement in the existing drainage system did not commence. This leads to difficulties to the residents like Elders and Children’s are not able to come out from home

freely, possibility

​ ​

to fall in the open drainage, breeding of mosquitoes, bad odour and other health related issues.

We, therefore, humbly request the Honorable Chief Minister to arrange with the concerned departments for Flood relief fund (Rs.5000/-, so far not received), Structural improvements of the drainage

​ ​

in our 

​​

nagar for enhancing the drain capacity including the reconstruction of side walls and the cover of the drain which have been damaged in the process of de-silting earlier.
