Position Overview
UMGC is seeking an experienced Salesforce Platform Specialist to support, enhance, and optimize its Salesforce ecosystem. This role combines Salesforce administration and development, requiring expertise in declarative tools, custom development, integrations, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate will build scalable solutions, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure Salesforce remains a secure, high-performing platform aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Building Enhancements (40%)
· Design, develop, optimize, and maintain Salesforce Flows following Salesforce best practices.
· Build custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components (LWC), custom objects, workflows, formula fields, and automation tools.
· Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware platforms.
· Create scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions that meet business requirements.
· Ensure all customizations comply with Salesforce architecture, security standards, and governor limits.
· Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, process documentation, and configuration guides.
· Promote knowledge sharing and system sustainability through comprehensive documentation.
Defect Resolution & Platform Support (40%)
· Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve underlying issues.
· Troubleshoot and debug Salesforce Flows, Apex Classes, Lightning Web Components, integrations, and platform configurations.
· Resolve production issues and provide advanced technical support.
· Optimize existing code, automation, and configurations for improved performance, scalability, and maintainability.
· Support team members with technical guidance and issue resolution.
· Ensure platform stability and seamless user experience.
Requirement Gathering & Solution Design (20%)
· Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine requirements.
· Translate business needs into actionable technical specifications and solution designs.
· Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and requirement refinement sessions.
· Document requirements, acceptance criteria, technical designs, and implementation details.
· Communicate effectively with business and technical teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
· Evaluate the impact of new requirements on Salesforce and integrated systems.
Required Qualifications
Experience
· 5+ years of Salesforce experience with a strong combination of administration and development expertise.
· Proven experience delivering both declarative and custom Salesforce solutions.
· Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex Salesforce platform issues independently.
· Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

· Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I (Mandatory)
Preferred Certifications
· Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II
