Title: SQL DBA
Location: Kansas City, KS
Duration: 3 – 6 month (probably more toward the 6 month range).
DESCRIPTION:
Primary database is SQL Server, but they also need experience with DB2/LUW.
SUMMARY:
Accountable for designing, building, implementing, and maintaining database structures. Ensures service levels are maintained, problems are resolved in a timely manner and project status is communicated to supervisor. Possesses a general understanding of database technologies.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS: -
At least 5 years experience with SQL Server 2005/2008 (including data base design, data base utilities, data base change migration, data base backup and recovery, data base security)
- A working knowledge of DB2/LUW
- Data base performance and tuning skills
DUTIES: -
Performs enterprise and project data modeling and demonstrates general knowledge of data modeling concepts and techniques

Works with management to implement a strategic database architecture direction
- Uses tools and design techniques to ensure database architecture meets established corporate service levels
- Establishes and builds a secure database environment which meets service level agreements

Works with application developers, users and data team to meet corporate service level goals
- Examines ways to continuously improve processes, architecture, and database designs to improve service levels
- Assists developers in creating physical database designs

Develops recommendations for data base standards
- Participates in on call rotation.
DESIRABLE TECHNICAL SKILLS: -
Experience with a data modeling product (ERwin, Enterprise Architect, etc.)

Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, or SQL Server Analysis Services

Data warehouse design, ETL knowledge, and data replication

A working knowledge of the Linux operating system
