Youth Workshop for Professional Work Choice
Purpose
This workshop is meant for youth from school year 9 to 12 and university students. The purpose of the workshop is to diversify their professional work choices. It has been observed that Hindu youths are underrepresented in politics, police, army, the legal profession and trades such as plumbing, mechanics, electrical repair, tiler and many such trades.
The aim of the workshop is to increase the awareness of broader career opportunities amongst youth. Though careers advice is provided in school, the personal experience of colleagues and peers from our own background will undoubtedly be an effective way of enabling them to broaden their horizons.
We wish to encourage the youth to be open to explore a diverse range of career options rather than restricting themselves to the traditional careers like engineering, medicine and law etc.
What will be included?
We will have multiple sessions from a wide range of tradespeople. They will come and provide details about their profession including type of work, skills requirement, working hours, financial benefit etc.
The sessions will be interactive. There will be presentations from various professionals/tradespeople and a question/answer session with an aim to provide Young people knowledge to link them with further training/employment opportunity.
Date: Sunday- 20 May 2018
Where: Hindu Temple, 81 Radcliffe Crescent, Florey
Program 11.00 am to 3.00 PM (lunch will be provided) (Detail program will be advised)
