I read your quick reply. I looked up the Hp support site for drivers for windows 10. It looks like currently it is not listed. It includes the bios. Please wait for some time. It might be added. Link for drivers: -en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-ultrabook-4-1100/5296027/model/5311090

I just uploaded my true vision driver for windows 10 and after testing the driver seems to be working, but I get an error that the camera cannot be detected. The problem could be with the antivirus software or that the camera is not working properly. I am on a envy hp laptop. What can I do to resolve? Thanks

So my webcam recently stopped working, I'm guessing after an update, as it was functioning not too long ago but, I always had it covered up unless I was using it which was very rarely. I've tried every method given on this topic I've come across but to no avail. It wasn't actually showing up in the device manager at first & then I discovered it was hidden for some reason, I tried to update the driver but it said it was up-to-date, then I tried uninstalling it(as there was no disable option) & rebooting it, as I was informed that this would make the com recognise the webcam wasn't operating & reinstall it again, but now it's not even hidden & I can't find the driver for it anywhere. I have a HP Notebook 14 - bs which has a HP TrueVision HD camera integrated above the screen. The camera isn't recognised in the settings section & it gives this error code which I've tried to resolve but the solution doesn't work for me. There's no updates I've missed neither. I've tried to find the drivers on this site for my model but they're not anywhere to be seen.... any advice would be great guys

Hey Erico, thanks for the reply but I still didn't have any joy following the solution given on that thread, well the link for the windows 10 solution. They recommended installing youcam & then using that to rediscover the webcam but when I installed it it had the same error message as if there's no cam installed on my laptop. If I can just get the official driver for this integrated webcam I'm sure it would work but I can't find it anywhere, do you have any ideas where I can locate it?

Hey, so there's nothing to see in the device manager anymore. I've heard that there's a possibility it could have disconnected but I imagine that's quite unlikely. As far as I've seen there's been no update to the integrated webcam for a while & I don't know exactly when it stopped working... There have been many windows updates recently but I haven't a clue which could've disabled the cam. Why is it not possible to just reinstall the driver for it? Surely that'd be the easiest solution

after windows update the webcam just died now its only showing black screen BUT some months back i faced the same issue and roll back driver from device manager fixed it NOW there is no roll back option in device manager and no drivers available for the webcam on the internet, windows update shows all updated
the camera is "HP TrueVision HD Camera" driver version 10.0.19041.1741 windows 10 64 bit

Check your userid is in the "video" group. I have an HP laptop with the same camera, and as far as I know, it's using standard "uvcvideo" driver module. But you can't use it from users not in the video group.

I decided to use face recognition for my PC and found that the Face Recognition option is unavailable with the message Windows Hello could not find a compatible camera. After digging on previous posts here, I learned that Windows Hello needs to check depth and that is for security to make sure that a picture of the owner cannot be held against the camera to gain illegal access to the computer. Now back to my problem, the camera is HP Truevision HD, why is windows telling me that, is it a driver issue or a windows update issue or my camera does not have the required infrared tech, I just need clarifications because sites online suggest that I install a new driver, Thank you for your help.

Another quick fix to try, is to find the exact module/driver that the kernel loads for your webcam and look for any parameters it may support, give them a try and see if they fix your problem. Sometimes a particular hardware revision may contain quirks and the drivers overcome them with specific parameters.

When running cheesethe LED indicator next to camera lights up but the screen is black. The buttons in cheese is disabled. Pressing q to quit does not work so it seems like stucked. Clicking x in upper right corner works.
