Going through the Google forums, it seems like Google doesn't have any intention of "fixing" this behavior. Issue seems like that the service starts and then it stops quickly making Windows think it failed, though in reality it checks for updates (and may be other "stuff") and exits with no errors.
Scroll down to Google Update Service (gupdate) and Google Update Service (gupdatem). Double-click each item and in the General tab under Startup Type, select Disabled from the dropdown menu and click OK.
With some of the answers here for disabling Google Chrome automatic updates, I've come up with a solution that uses specific group policy settings and also a PowerShell startup script to rename the GoogleUpdate.exe, disable the correlated services, and disable the correlated Task Scheduler tasks.
I disabled all the gupdate from msconfig, blocked all the way I (though) it could take ownership of my bloody PC despite of me. I even just did a search on my hard drive for a "gupdate" and found nothing.
This dramatically reduces the slowdown in responsiveness in user sessions that the services might otherwise cause, because their disk I/O, CPU time, and pace of allocating RAM all ramp up at a more gradual slope than they would otherwise. It helps to avoid the classic "type password then wait for 2 minutes" login that we all hate after a fresh boot.
MiniTool OEM program enable partners like hardware / software vendors and relative technical service providers to embed MiniTool software with their own products to add value to their products or services and expand their market.
GoogleUpdate.exe is a component of Google Updater and it runs Google Updater. It manages downloads, installs, removes, and updates of Google products. Google Update Service runs as a background process and the service name is gupdate. This service aims to keep your Google application up to date. (Related: Is My Chrome Up to Date?)
Google Update application is automatically installed on your computer when you install a Google product like Google Chrome. This service uninstalls itself when there is no Google software on your computer. You can find Google Update exe file on your computer by following the path below.
If you want to uninstall GoogleUpdate.exe, you have to uninstall all Google software that will use Google Update Service. When there is no Google software using this service, the Google Update Service (gupdate) will uninstall automatically.
How would I be able to monitor services status whose startup Type is "Automatic" with one sensor which only indicates if the condition is OK or not. Ideally, if the sensor could write down the service name in the error.
I've got a slightly different script to achieve a similar thing, though it's more versatile (allows monitoring of all services, not just automatically started ones, plus it deals appropriately with "triggered" services)
This will return one channel for each service that displays an appropriate status with errors and warnings being set appropriately for each type of service. Note that this script doesn't include any credentials - it is expected that either the PRTG probe service is running as an appropriate user or that you select "Use Windows credentials of parent device"
I would argue that this is the proper way to do it. Google Update is a Windows Service like any of a hundred others. Managing services (On/Off/Manual/Disable) is just bread and butter for an Admin (like you)..
I have installed Laserfiche Server 10 Rio License for one of our client recently in windows server 2012,We are using Laserfiche Forms connected to workflow server to retrieve datas from database, most of the times the laserfiche server service gets stopped if the server is not used for a while, lets say every 10-15 min,the lf server service gets stopped and after if the laserfiche forms needs to connect with workflow server, the workflow went to waiting status till we start the service manually and rerun the workflow,I dont have any idea whether its a windows issue or LF issue.
My first suggestion would be to check the Application Event Log (Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools\Event Viewer) to see if there is any further information as to why the Laserfiche Server service stopped. You might also want to try generating a new license for the Laserfiche Server from Rio License Manager or LFDS (whichever you might be using).
And i generated new license from Directory Server for LF server and replaced with the new one,now i think the service is running and it doesn't get stopped automatically, but can you explain the above error message .Is there any limit for User task assignment in Forms?
