Hello ER,
Now that four core members of the OC are on the EB and away for the next three days, the rest of us must ensure that none of us start lacking behind. It is very important that we use the next few days very efficiently and compensate for their absence. It is time each and everyone one of you empower yourselves and begin acting like OCVPs and even OCPs.
Regarding the state of ER, as Aakash had mentioned during the OCM, we need to be smart with how we work. We must not only plan but also implement. However, we have to be extremely creative and unique in the method we use to approach each company. Different companies have different requirements and we have to throw in a few things here and there (taking JBL's online competition, JBL space and JBL night as examples)
And this is why, I believe making cold calls and writing emails is incredibly important. I feel we haven't been doing enough of them. Walk in's and raising drives are just what we need, no doubt, but I strongly suggest that we make cold calls to fix appointments and discuss our ideas with the marketing heads before we personally present them with our proposal. This way we get an idea of their demands and we come prepared with our pitch. It is actually much easier getting in touch with marketing heads through email than through walk-in's.
There is a proper procedure to everything and if we actually follow the right format of call, email, appointment and finally personal meeting; we can definitely make some bigger companies come through.
I'd like everyone's thoughts and suggestions on so and so, this is how I personally feel it should work if we are to ever get tangible results. Efforts are appreciated but unless they are targeted in the right direction, they remain fruitless. In the end, results are what we need and want.
It is our responsibility that NLS comes through, that AIESEC DU starts 2013 with a profit and that we deliver the best national conference AIESEC has ever seen.
You have Saturday, Sunday and Monday now. I'm all up for walk-in's if that's how everyone else feels it should be done. (However, I suggest we scrap the idea of saturday and sunday walk-ins. No one above the lowest employee's position would be present in the office on these days, even at CP. And if you want the marketing head's number or contact, it IS always easier to get it through the internet, cold calls and emails)
Good luck, Good day and See you at the OCM.
Regards,
Hamza Farooq
