Are these deigned to handle the travel rate speeds and change in direction,, repeatedly ?

(from R3D forum - "Serious Weirdness & Problems")

I thought I would bring this to the GG , as the R3D forum just isn't setup for long discussions.

(haven't tried to link a dropbox vid before,, hope it worked)

Looking at your video, I would guess that you have a broken coupler.

Here's some more background helical couplers:

They're pretty much a commodity item and allow for imperfect alignment between the stepper and the shaft.

You need to measure the shaft on the stepper, and the shaft that it connects to. Those are the 2 important dimensions if you decide to order some more.

For example, adafruit carries several (5mm is common for a stepper shaft size) for about $5

Any place that sells parts to build 3D printers should carry them (if you're impatient and don't want to wait for a replacement from Raise3D).

Yeah that coupler is broken for sure. You can even see very tiny bits of metal falling away each time the two haves rotate and the breaks collide. Those should be easy to find, but R3D is on the hook to send you a replacement. You are under a warranty.
