The annual WWD membership meeting will be held on Sunday, May 20th at 10am at Salle Auriol Seattle. All current WWD members are encouraged to attend. We will briefly recap the current season and discuss plans for the WWD in the 2012-2013 season. Free snacks and coffee will be provided to all who attend.

We will also be electing the WWD Officers for the 2012-2013 season. The slate of proposed officers is as follows:

Chair: Dan Berke (Rain City Fencing Center)
Vice Chair #1: Kevin Mar (Washington Fencing Academy)
Vice Chair #2: Alan Geller (Rain City Fencing Center)
Vice Chair #3: Rachel Hughes (Washington Fencing Academy)
Treasurer: Joe Hoover (Salle Auriol Seattle)
Secretary: Mike Reiter (Metro Tacoma Fencing Club)

This year, all of the current officers are running for re-election except for Hannah Sutton. Hannah recently moved out of the division after many years of service, and we'd like to thank her for her service to the division. Upon her resignation, the officers appointed Mike Reiter of Metro Tacoma Fencing Club as interim Secretary, and he is continuing as part of the proposed slate.

As always, additional candidates may be nominated for any of the positions. If you wish to nominate someone, please email the nomination to ch...@wwdfencing.org and secr...@wwdfencing.org. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the membership meeting. All nominees must indicate acceptance of the nomination either via email or in-person.

All current WWD members age 18 or older are eligible to vote. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may submit a vote by proxy. For information on how to do this, please conatct ch...@wwdfencing.org.

Finally, you will soon start hearing about the upcoming USFA Election for the USFA President, Treasurer, and two Board of Directors positions. This election is a critical part of how we decide who will lead the USFA for the next four years.

If you are eligible to vote(*) in the USFA election, in a few of weeks you will receive an email with instructions on how to vote online. It is very important that all eligible USFA members cast their vote - doing so will take under five minutes of your time. This is one of the few ways that the membership at-large has input into the governance of the USFA, so it is critical that you cast your vote.

* - You are eligible to vote in the USFA election if you were a USFA member in good standing AND age 18 or older as of February 1, 2012. If you joined the USFA or turned 18 after that date, you are not eligible to vote this year.

Thanks,
Dan Berke
WWD Chair
