FRED Announces the WWD Div II/III/Y14 Divisional Qualifier
April 25, 2020
at Salle Auriol Seattle
This event is the qualifier for the Division II, Division III, and Youth-14 events at Summer Nationals in July. All fencers who wish to fence these events at Summer Nationals must qualify through this event (unless they are pre-qualified as described below.)
In each event, the top 25% (rounded up) will qualify for Summer Nationals, with a minimum of 3. Therefore, if 3 or fewer fencers are registered for an event, the event will not be fenced and all will qualify.
PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT CHANGES TO DIVISIONAL QUALIFIERS THIS YEAR
We are implementing a new process for Divisional Qualifiers this year that will save everyone time and money. Please read the following process carefully.
First, all fencers must be REGISTERED AND PAID on AskFred by 11:59 PM on April 20th. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE.
On April 21st, we will update this page and send an email to the fencers announcing the following:
If an event has 3 or fewer fencers that are not already qualified, the event will not be fenced. All of the fencers that are registered will be considered qualified.
If an event needs to be fenced, we will announce at what time it will start on April 25th at SAS.
-------- Entry Fees ---------
All fencers must pay the mandatory $10 registration fee when they sign up on AskFred.
If an event needs to be fenced, each fencer will need to pay an ADDITIONAL $10 in CASH on the day of the event (to cover the cost of hiring referees.)
----- Registration Information -----
Entry deadline is 11:59pm on Monday, April 20th. No entries will be allowed after the deadline.

---- Event Schedule ----
All events will take place on April 25th. Event start times will be announced on April 21st based on which events need to be fenced.
----- Event Format -----
All events will be run as a single round of pools with 100% promoted to the direct elimination. If an event has 4 to 11 fencers, a fence-off for third place may be necessary.
----- Tournament Rules -----
This tournament is only open to members of the USFA Western Washington Division with competitive memberships. All fencers must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed.
----- Qualification Info -----
The top 25% of fencers (rounded up) in each event will qualify with a minimum of 3.
Veteran fencers that fence in the Div II/III event will automatically qualify for the corresponding Veteran event at Summer Nationals (regardless of finishing place.)
----- Age Eligibility -----
Eligibility is based on entirely on birth year, regardless of when a fencer's birthday falls during the year.
Senior (Div II/III) - Born 2006 or earlier
Youth-14 - Born 2005-2008
----- Am I Pre-Qualified? -----
Many fencers in the division may already be pre-qualified for Division II and III, as well as Y14. If you finished in the top 40% at a ROC like the Battle in Seattle, you have earned Regional Points and will be qualified for Div II/III. If you finished in the top 40% of a Div II/III NAC, then you are also qualified.
Y14 fencers with Y14 national points are auto-qualified for the Y14 event. Y14 fencers are also qualified if they have at least 150 Y14 regional points.
You can lookup regional points on the USFA website here:
https://member.usafencing.org/regional/points
- Select the 2019-2020 season
- Select either the DV2 or Y14 circuit
- Select the gender and weapon
- If searching for Y14 points, choose region 1
- Enter the fencer's last name
