Diversity awareness and status of women

Dear Rainbow Sangat Europe
I am so pleased to have found this internet platform. Thanks to Onkar
Singh for taking the intitiative and giving me the contact
information.
As a lesbian I have stuggled for several years with the gender
politics of kundalini yoga, particularly in the teacher training.
Although I hasten to add that I have never experienced any personal
discrimination at all, there is still a pernicious ignorance about
diversity which should be changed. I attended the European Yoga
Festival for the first time this year and know that I am not the only
one feeling this way and hope that this is a platform to discuss these
issues.
I also know that there was also criticism about the distribution of
resources at the yoga festival, particularly the allocation of
showers and toilets, which I felt was well founded.
I am, however, a little nervous about using this platform as this form
of communication is new to me - hope I am doing it correctly!
Apart from suggesting that we arrange and advertise a meeting at the
yoga festival next year, I am unsure about how we should move
forward.
It would be good to advertise this platform, each in our local
newsletter - or is there a european newsletter? Or has this been done
already?
Would it be possible to gather topics and try to prioritise isses to
work on? Or has that also been done already?
