Hi Rainbow Peace and Justice Group,
I wanted to share with you this event that I hope to attend this Saturday in KCMO. It's a dedication for a memorial for Levi Harrington who was killed in a racial terror lynching in 1882.
Levi Harrington Memorial Dedication - Join others in the city to erect Missouri's first historical maker to acknowledge the racial terror lynching of Mr. Levi Harrington, who was killed in West Kansas City on April 3, 1882. The memorial is this Saturday, Dec. 1 from 3–4pm at West Terrace Dog Park (750 Pennsylvania Ave., KCMO 64106). The memorial is sponsored by Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City, the Missouri Conference of the NAACP, Missouri Faith Voices, and Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty in partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI). The dedication of this historical marker will become part of a process of restorative truth telling to support community reconciliation, exploring difficult features of Missouri’s common history as a means of moving forward together. {Tuesday is my main day in the office and the most reliable time I check this email. I will do my best to respond as I'm available at other times during the week.}
