Friends,

Kimberly Hunter gave a few of us a heads-up on this issue a few days ago, when a petition was being circulated (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdenQBfP-n968ZmsDvNdW0v_O6-z-3PWtv_v33JtBdDQfWEVQ/viewform). It is still possible to sign on to this letter, but below are opportunities to attend an afternoon press conference, and and evening event on Monday 8/20/18.

Subject: What's happening in Kansas?
Date: August 16, 2018 at 5:37:34 PM CDT

This Monday MORE2 has a lot going on in Kansas.

As you likely know, we have been involved with the Lamonte McIntyre case for awhile, and continues to look into the systemic injustices that allowed for his wrongful imprisonment. In response to the concerns raised by that case in particular, a Convictions Integrity Unit has been proposed to review past convictions that, under close review, raise similar concerns. Yet, certain forces have attempted to block the implementation of this crucial review process.

That's why we're hosting a press conference on Monday afternoon to demand full funding and immediate implementation of the Conviction Integrity Unit. If you'd like to attend to show your support, please contact Marcus (mar...@more2.org).

Additionally, we're hosting key leaders from Lamonte's legal defense team at our monthly Issues 2 Action meeting Monday evening to discuss what we can do to prevent another innocent man, like Lamonte, from spending decades in prison. That's at Grandview Park Presbyterian Church, from 6:30-8:00pm, this Monday August 20. You can share the word about this important meeting, that's open to the public, by sharing on social media here.
