* New articles: Today I wrote up the CSS Inheritance topic, and Karmen
Blake has made great strides on the Validators topic. In addition, our
newest courseware writer, Pepe Bande, has added a section about
Console2 to the Windows Installation guide.
* Translations begun: This is very exciting news! Douglas Campos and
Hector Sansores have started the process of translating the wiki into
other languages, by posting Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese versions
of the HTML topic. Making the courseware available in languages other
than English can really go a long way toward making Rails more
accessible to users around the globe.
* And, last but not least, I've been working hard today on the new
layout for the home page of the new Redmine site. The other team
members might come up with design changes that we implement later, but
I wanted us to get ported over as soon as possible, so I've been doing
what I can. There is still a fair chunk of work to be done, but you
can get a sneak peek at the direction I'm going by looking at this
Skitch: http://skitch.com/danajones/bw5c3/redmine . That's obviously
only the basic structure (lots more content to add and functionality
to pull up the recently updated, for example), but I'm excited about
the progress.
We still need more writers, editors, and translators, so if you want
to get involved, please do! Just create a user account at https://projects.littlestreamsoftware.com/account/register
and Eric will add you as a contributor. Guidelines for contributing
to the wiki are available at https://projects.littlestreamsoftware.com/projects/rails-tutor/wiki/Contributing
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your weekend!
