All,

The inaugural AGM of Ruby Australia was held at Rails Camp last Saturday!

The purpose of Ruby Australia is quite simply to support the Australian Ruby community. There has been much discussion over the last couple of years about the potential to set up an official organisation to make it easier to run Rails Camps so that individual organisers do not have to start from scratch each time. Also, various discussions have taken place in the Australian Ruby community about the benefits of holding a conference. These discussions culminated in the establishment of Ruby Australia, which was ratified at the AGM at Rails Camp X.

Thanks very much to all who attended the AGM and volunteered to contribute to Ruby Australia, whether it be to accept a position on the committee, help create the web presence at ruby.org.au, help organise the planned Ruby conference or just generally offer support.

The committee elected was:

President: Keith Pitty
Vice-President: Nigel Rausch
Treasurer: Sebastian von Conrad
Secretary: Richie Khoo
General Committee: Ben Schwarz, Daniel Draper

Richie will be sending out the minutes soon. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please contact either Richie (evol...@gmail.com) or myself (ke...@keithpitty.com).

Regards,
Keith
