Hi everyone,

We have 21 applicants so far. Please continue to spread word through your networks. I'm fairly confident we'll hit capacity by early next week.

We need to recruit 18-20 enthusiastic TAs. Experienced Rubyists of both genders are absolutely welcome, but let's try hard to get a good representation of women, say around 10. I'm not sure where the best places to look for this are. Andrew F, can MIT's SWE help us find people?

To end on a light note, in our workshop student application, there is a question that asks "Why are you interested in attending this workshop?"

My favorite answer so far: "My husband ____  is a Ruby developer. I'd like to understand what it is that he does!"

As of Monday 11:00am we have 43 applicants.

There are 14 teaching assistants signed up, only 5 of them are women, so we need more.  If you know someone, a co-worker maybe, try to convince her to register.  We don't need experts, this is a beginner's workshop.

Thanks!

We actually have more than 20 teaching assistants, including about 10 women. They weren't all on the list that Braulio was looking at. We should cap the workshop at about 50 students.

I think we can shift focus now to other things besides promotion and recruitment. I think that this week Brendan and Andrew will start tweaking the curriculum and coordinating with the volunteer teaching staff and mini-lecturers. I'll get more sponsors & handle food and logistics, and possibly totes/tank/scarves.
