Registration is open for the sequel to our January workshop. We'll cover the Rails half of Ruby on Rails.
What will be covered?
- What happens when a browser requests a dynamic web page
- What is a web framework? Why would you want one?
- Dividing up code responsibilities with the Model, View, Controller architecture
- Saving data in a database with Rails' object-relational mapper
- Saving code snapshots with Git
- Deploying a Rails application to the web with Heroku
At the end of the workshop you'll be able to define all of this jargon.
What will NOT be covered?
- HTML and CSS - the art of making a web site look good
- Programming basics. Our next Intro to Programming with Ruby workshop will be held in the fall.
- Intermediate Rails. This is a basic tutorial for those who have never made a dynamic website with Rails.
