List filtering

I'm looking to solve two problems...

1) When a list loads, it should have a set of filters already in place - I think scoped views solves this?

2) Lets say I have a list of Company and each Company has many Employees. I want a link in the company list that loads the employee filtered with only the employees of that company (basically a filter in the employee list that is company_id=blahblah). How would I set something like that up?
