Who we are?

Appointuit is a Brisbane based startup and is Australia's leading online appointment management and patient engagement system for healthcare professionals.

The position

We're looking for a mid level Ruby on Rails developer to join our small professional team of developers.

This role includes taking ownership of the current code-base and working on improvements. You will also be responsible for building and integrating with internal and external applications using Ruby on Rails to improve Appointuit for our customers and patients across Australia and New Zealand. You will be working with our Technical Lead and have the opportunity to  throw your ideas into  future architecture..

You will have:

  • A passion for  Ruby and Rails(other dev skills a bonus)

  • An  ability to write test-driven code

  • A knack for taking complex real world problems and building simple, elegant solutions using Rails

  • Excellent team skills

  • Knowledge of the latest developments in the Ruby and web development world

  • The ability to  deliver in scope and on-time projects

Experience you should have:

  • 2-3 years minimum of  building web applications using Ruby, PHP, Java or C# .NET (polyglotism is a positive)

  • Ruby - Good understanding of the standard library

  • Rails - Extensive use of the Ruby on Rails framework and ActiveRecord

  • Solid understanding of MySQL

  • JavaScript + CoffeeScript including libraries like jQuery

  • HTML/5 and CSS/3 including SCSS

  • Git and Github for source control

  • Apache or Nginx and Passenger

  • TDD using RSpec or Minitest

  • Writing and maintaining deployment scripts using Rake and Capistrano

Bonus points

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Medical practice management software or domain knowledge experience

  • Integrating with SMS providers using Ruby on Rails

  • Building reliable, scalable, large web applications a big plus
