Senior / Lead Ruby on Rails Engineer – Sydney CBD - $140-160K+ Super - semi-remote (must be local or able to reach the office).

Currently, this business is positioned as Australia’s number one SME focused energy price comparison and switching service. 2019 being the ten year anniversary, they have enjoyed phenomenal success over recent years and are now looking to significantly improve and optimise their digital products and the customer experience in this niche space.
The Role.
You will be leading the software engineering and technical direction of the next-generation digitisation agenda! As Senior / Lead, you will champion the process of on-shoring development to improve speed to market and effectiveness.
This highly influential role will see you join the business as the first in-house engineer.
As the development expert, you will have the opportunity to guide the organisation through an exciting period of transformation and change.
About You.
• You will relish Greenfield projects where you can take point.
• You will be positive and upbeat with a “can do” attitude.
• A strong communicator who is comfortable when dealing with a range of stakeholders.
• Previous experience or even aspirations to build and lead a small team of developers.
Key Responsibilities.
• Help architect the roadmap that will drive product digitisation for a great customer experience.
• Understand and refine an existing complex bespoke CRM/applications/UI, website/CMS.
• Develop new applications built to scale with a growing customer base.
• Work closely with three Senior Developers (New Zealand, Uk and Europe).
• Over time build out your local team of development talent around you.
• Support a “laboratory” / “innovation” approach to new development using lean-agile methodologies.
Ideal Experience.
• Ruby on Rails
• AWS – Cloud Hosting (some CI/CD experience)
• MySQL DB with Redis/Sidekiq
• QuickSight & Redshift an advantage
• Lean-Agile development methodology
• Continuous integration & deployment
• Ideally built a Greenfield product from conception
• Team leadership would be nice to have
