Hi Guys,

We need some help getting a project over the line and as such are looking for a rails contractor for 2 months.

Its a pretty exciting project for a company that is getting LOTS of press right now and adding users at a rate of knots. Its rails 3 and testing is OK but needs work.

Happy to negotiate on rates.

A bit surprised to see a developer being described this way in the ad:

  "The app has tests but some parts have been inherited by a "lesser" developer and are missing the test coverage we would like. It IS rails 3 though!

Doesn't sound like such a fun place to work when they're publicly humiliating a developer.

Wow. OK, was just supposed to be a bit of light fun but I'll take your comments on board and update the listing.

I didn't name anybody and IMHO someone who hasn't written tests has not done their job properly (albeit even if they were forced by powers that be). He also wasn't working for us. Apologies if I caused any offence.

Guys,

The client approached Codefire a while back for help on their project. We were taking it over from another developer and I'm not meaning to be disrespectful (or to "publicly humiliate" them) but the project was simply not up to scratch. We have done quite a bit of refactoring and it is better now, has better test coverage and so forth but still needs work.

I never meant to upset anybody. I always strive for excellence when building software and testing is pivotal for quality.

I need a couple of extra hands so please let me know if you are interested in helping out or know someone who is.

I'll leave the list be, now :)

that comment seems rather close-minded towards the possibilities that may have occurred for the developer not to write tests. Tests are highly important but there are always circumstances that may hinder someone. I can imagine how hard it would be for that developer to accept the apology after that quote.

Maybe instead of wasting time complaining about how I have "wronged" (a nameless developer) you should go and write some tests for your code!

In general, there's a blanket rule not to respond to job ads on-list,
and this is probably a good example of why we have the rule.

This is why we have job posting guidelines. 
Lets at least appear to have a vibrant, healthy and positive community where 'professional positions' are being discussed.
