Hi all,

I'm a solo founder of Coalfacer (www.coalfacer.com) - which is a platform that connects researchers with industry participants who have shared research interests and a toolkit that allows them to form collaborative research agreements pursuant to which an academic research might focus on a business challenge and use the data, materials, insights or funding provided by the business collaborator in doing so.

Coalfacer came 4th in Sydstart's pitching competition this year and has been profiled across a range of think tank publications.

I am learning to code (slowly and painfully) and expect to be in a position to hire a CTO when my first founding round goes through in Jan. In the meantime, it would be brilliant to find someone that might have a few hours a week to help me with specific problems I'm having. I don't want to ask you to code for me, rather, I'd like help to figure out how to approach elements of the build and maybe we could do an example together.

So - here's my job pitch:

Title: RoR Adviser

Description: I'd like you to help me by helping solve specific problems I'm facing in building my platform. I have clear wireframes and developed schema for my platform and am now on my 3rd iteration of the build. I'd like to learn from your experience to try and make this one the version that works. I have a list of specific issues - if you can help my by talking them through and then showing me an example of how to to approach the solution - I will do the work from there.

The Company: see above or check out www.coalfacer.com

I'm based in Sydney - if you are too, that would work best. If not, we can skype.

Remote/on-site: either. It might be easier to sit together in the first instance, but I'm open to remote working.

Pay: Negotiable

Level: I need to work with someone that is comfortable with the front and back end and reasonably complex structures. There are a few variables in this platform. I'd like it if you were able to help me with my JS requests too - but that's not necessary.

The length and type of the contract: Casual - a few hours per week. I hope to hire in Jan when funding comes through. Until then, I am on the hunt for a contractor, but understand how little certainty there is for someone considering a new challenge at this stage of things. There will be a change early next year and I'm hoping that this arrangement will carry through until then.

Thank you!
