Visiting Melbourne

Being a footloose and location-agnostic freelancer I'm going to be in
Melbourne for the next couple of weeks. I go where my wife's job takes
us - recently Singapore - currently mainly Manila. Melbourne might
also be a possible permanent location in the future.

I'm likely to be staying near the CBD but don't want to be spending my
entire life in a serviced apartment/hotel room (it's bad for the
soul). So I was hoping for some recommendations...

Can anyone suggest some decent cafes or other venues, obvious wifi-ed
is preferable (!), for me to spend some of my time working?

Any ideas gratefully received to save a man's sanity. Thanks!

PS I note that sadly I'll not be around for the Melbourne meetup, from
perusing it seems it's an end of the month thing, and a good crowd.

There's a bunch of rails developers working out of
http://www.openhub.com.au/. It's a great location too. You can get
daily or weekly passes at very reasonable rates.
