Hi All,
What topic would the Melbourne Ruby community - in particular, junior developers and folks new to Ruby - like to see addressed in a talk?
Post your suggestions and upvotes on this thread (or email me at
dun...@bayne.id if you'd rather not join the group for any reason).
An interested developer (currently the pool is Tim Moore and I, but let us know if you're keen to help out) will then pick the most requested topic and present on it at the first available slot (hopefully August 2015).
Some suggestions to get you started ...
- how to use (and not abuse!) metaprogramming in Ruby
- Git fundamentals and best practices (not Ruby-specific, but Git is quite prevalent in the Ruby world)
- profiling Ruby - how to identify and fix performance problems with your code
- Ruby as Enterprise glue - talking to SOAP, Microsoft SQL Server, etc. from Ruby
Over to you!
Yours,
Duncan Bayne
