I saw that Amazon have launched an SMTP interface SES
Ran through creating an smtp user and password, and added them in railo admin, but it timesout when trying to verify.
The error i get in mail.log reads-

"ERROR","web-0","12/14/2011","12:05:43","mail spooler","timeout occurred after 30 seconds while sending mail message"
"ERROR","web-0","12/14/2011","12:06:43","mail spooler","Got bad greeting from SMTP host: email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com, port: 465, response: -1"

Does this look like a local/railo issue or a problem at Amazons end ?
Has anyone else tried this yet?

Cheers, Chris

After some further investigation Railo will send emails through the
SES SMTP service. The Amazon docs say you need TLS on, but in Railo
Admin you must check both TLS and SSL.

With both these checked cfmail will correctly send an email, however
the mail server fails to verify in the railo admin. If you click
verify the request eventually timesout at whatever your request
timeout is set to.

It is cool they finally offer a SMTP service. I did something similar using PostFix and some email hooks, definitely much easier going straight to the source. ;)
