(MILWAUKEE, WI) - The Junior Volleyball Association (JVA), a leading association in the growth of youth volleyball in America, is pleased to be making a donation of $10,000 to USA Volleyball Men's and Women's National Teams. As an association committed to the advancement and development of junior volleyball, we [...]

The Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) is the national governing body for Juniors volleyball programs. Each month it recognizes JVA clubs achieving more than just national championships and medals. The winning clubs go above and beyond to help grow and develop junior volleyball in their region.

The Garden Empire Volleyball Association (GEVA) is the local Regional Volleyball Authority of USA Volleyball, the national governing body of volleyball, and as such is responsible for the promotion and growth of volleyball in New Jersey, Long Island, and the Greater Metropolitan Area of New York City (to include Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Putnam, and Orange Counties).

GEVA promotes volleyball by offering competition, training, and education in a multitude of disciplines. We authorize clubs who in turn offer training programs, and competitive opportunities on many levels. Many of these opportunities include indoor tournaments throughout the fall & winter months and outdoor, beach and grass tournaments in the spring & summer months.

As the volleyball community is diverse, GEVA conducts Adult and Junior Division specialty programs including Junior High Performance and Paralympic Volleyball.

For our Adults division, we offer five levels of play for both Adult Men and Women; Open, AA, A, BB and B. At the Juniors level, we offer age level competition for Boys and Girls between the ages of 10 and 18 years of age.

The growth of the game also encompasses officials and in such GEVA also has a variety of opportunities for officiating from training the novice to advancing the professional development of all.

In today's world, we are constantly on the go so make sure you are connected with us on social. On our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, we will be sharing all of our latest updates on USAV and SafeSport registration, coaching certifications, High Performance, tournaments and much, much more. Don't forget to say hi, too!

We are a member club of the Florida Region of USA Volleyball. Players are encouraged to get as many sponsors as possible to help support The Danny Fund and the LHVA Scholarship Fund. A prize will be given to the player on each team who raises the most money from the Serve-A-Thon. Please see the attached documents for the Serve-A-Thon form and player instructions.

We will also be raising money through raffle baskets and a Birthday Board. Tickets for the baskets will be available to purchase at the End of Season Event on Saturday, May 11th at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck. If you are interested in participating in the Birthday Board, you can purchase a date(s) for $20 each and your name will be added to the date you chose on the board. At the end of the event, a date will be randomly selected providing the winner a cash prize. More information about the Birthday Board will be emailed out and posted on the LHVA Facebook page soon.

Are you interested in learning more about the 2023-2024 LHVA Club Season? Join us on Sunday, September 10th at 5pm for a Zoom Information Meeting. There are many new exciting opportunities this year as we are offering travel tournaments to many of our teams. We are also bringing back our 18 Regional team. Some details can be found on the main page of our website, www.lhvavolleyball.com. However, we will be going over more specific details for the season including practice locations, times, tournaments, etc for each team. Also, new this year are our tryouts for our 16s-18s, which will be earlier this year, taking place on October 1st and 8th. Tryouts for our 13s-15s will be the last weekend of October and first weekend of November.

GEVA makes every effort to fulfill our commitment to teams and clubs by conducting all scheduled tournaments. Sometimes things get in the way. Our inclement weather practice has been to hold the tournament if at all possible (even if some teams are more effected than others). Exceptions are made in dangerous situations, and those beyond our control. If the weather is bad, (snow and ice) your safety is paramount. Do not drive if it you don't feel safe.

When possible, a decision is made prior to 9 pm the evening prior. If a situation worsens overnight, the decision is adjusted prior to 5:30 am the day of the tournament. Once cancelled, we will not have a mind change.

Boys volleyball is the fastest growing sport in the United States, however, Oklahoma has not seen that same level of growth. OKBVA was established in 2020 to help bridge that gap by promoting and assisting Oklahoma high schools in establishing teams through grassroots efforts. OKBVA works with students and parents to give them the tools to share with their school, with the goal to establish teams for the league. Boys volleyball often has a large interest from the students, and logistically requires minimal school administrative support and funding. We are expecting exponential growth in Oklahoma that will eventually lead to boys volleyball becoming a sanctioned OSSAA sport in the future.
