A favorite among locals and visitors alike, East West Restaurant has been prospering in Santa Rosa for over 30 years. This culinary heaven is best known for the creative menu developed by brothers Nawar and Maen, and includes a large variety of tasteful, fresh and local ingredients which embrace vegan and vegetarian options.
Exotic flavors of the Mediterranean were brought up in California to create the East west dishes . We aim to provide the best in food quality and freshness. Our menu is based on fresh and high quality ingredients prepared in the house and served directly to our community.
Our broad menu ranges from fresh breakfasts to hearty dinners with a large variety of vegetarian dishes. Vegetarian food is far more than carrot sticks or tofu. There's plenty of creativity in our kitchen.
East West Cafe in Santa Rosa has been a favorite of mine for years. The help is friendly and helpful. Although I have eaten other dishes on the menu, the Felafel Platter is my favorite. I can't eat eggplant so I always ask for a double helping of the Beet Delight instead of the Baba Ganoush and I have never had any problems with the order. The Beet Delight is both gorgeous to look at and eat.
The City of South Burlington is increasing transportation options to encourage walkable, sustainable downtown development in the City Center next to Interstate 89 (I-89) at Exit 14. The East-West Crossing Project - a walk bike bridge over I-89 - will provide a safer and more comfortable crossing of I-89 and remove an obstacle to choosing to bike throughout the area.
In November 2021, the City of South Burlington received notice of a RAISE grant from the U.S. Office of the Secretary of Transportation for $9.76 million dollars to build the project! This enabled the City to move forward with design with support from the VTrans Municipal Assistance Services office and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
The East West Crossing Project will create an option for pedestrians and bikers (and skateboarders and strollers) that will include a single span bicycle/pedestrian bridge over I-89, just south of the Exit 14 interchange ramps. A shared use path will start at Williston road, adjacent to Staples Plaza and follow the southwestern edge of the interchange, as well as a connection to a shared use path that runs through the Quarry Hill neighborhood, would connect to the western end. The eastern terminus would be reached through a shared-use route close to the Comfort Inn and CVS, as well as a possible connection to the University Mall property.
Scoping for the project was completed in collaboration with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission through a contract with Stantec. This phase took several years. It began with research examining the project area, including conditions on the ground, the environment and communities on the west and east sides of I-89 at Exit 14, City Center, the Burlington Hill District, in collaboration with the residents, businesses, property owners, and other stakeholders. As a result of this process, Alternative 3, which offers a connection over I-89 at the southernmost part of the Exit 14 interchange, was accepted by the City Council as the Preferred Alignment in May of 2018.
To better position the project for design and construction funding, the City, with assistance from the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), undertook a supplemental study of specific environmental characteristics of the preferred alternative - Final Report for Phase II. This study provided the background for future environmental permitting.
The City of South Burlington awarded a contract to Vanasse Hangen Brustlin (VHB) to provide a team of experienced architects, designers, and engineers to design the project. This team is led by Project Manager, Aaron Guyette, PE. The architecture/urban design is being driven by Etty Padmodipoetro, AIA, the owner and lead architect at Urban Idea Lab (UIL), a bridge and pedestrian experience designer. The bicycle and pedestrian transportation design engineer is Rick Plenge, PE, PTOE (VHB). The structural team is led by Senior Structural Project Manager Christopher Smith, PE. Chris is Assistant Regional Director for Modjeski and Masters (M&M), a bridge engineering firm. Tyler Vendituoli, a local artist, brings his creative vision as an integrated part of the project team. Zoraya Hightower of the Peace & Justice Center and Natanya Vanderlaan of Wholeheart provided outreach to underrepresented communities to ensure all voices are front and center during the concept design process.
Our mission is to drive growth, help improve performance, and increase the value of western companies with operations in China, Asia, Mexico, and Central Eastern Europe by providing commercial, operational and risk management solutions with proven, hands-on implementation services.
Salt Lake City is a city divided by a regional north-south transportation corridor created by freight and commuter rail at grade level and an Interstate Freeway above. These two regional connectors hinder east-west connectivity, alter community cohesion, and embed socio-economic inequities and environmental injustice into the fabric of the city.
Now, finally, is the time to begin to come to terms with this divide. Reconnecting Communities is a robust community-centric planning effort to envision solutions for east-west crossings focused on a 6.1 mile highly urbanized corridor.
Salt Lake City will receive more than $3.7 million dollars from the USDOT and local matching partners as part of the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program. To foster connectivity and cohesion, funding will be used to support a planning analysis and prioritization of solutions for the transportation infrastructure surrounding the east-west divide. The work will begin with no preconceived notions about what solution(s) should be prioritized. The process will empower the communities most affected by the division to define the precise nature of the problem and propose solutions that address their needs and desires.
Community-based project partners including the Westside Coalition, NeighborWorks, and the Downtown Alliance have committed to help us in this initiative. Agency and institutional partners including the Utah Transit Authority, the Salt Lake City RDA, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities will focus the technical and infrastructure needs to be considered when contemplating changes. This Reconnecting Communities grant builds on and strengthens a prior grant application from April 2022.
VIA Metropolitan Transit (VIA) proposes to implement a 7.3-mile bus rapid transit (BRT) line, comprised of 70 percent dedicated transit lanes and 30 percent mixed traffic operations, from General McMullen Drive in the west, through downtown San Antonio, to Coca Cola Place in the east. The project will include 18 branded stations with off-board fare collection, next bus messaging, public announcement systems, bike parking, and safety features such as security cameras and lighting. The Project will also include the procurement of 13 new low/no emission vehicles with level boarding and implementation of transit signal priority.

East-west traffic, in a networking context, is the transfer of data packets from server to server within a data center. The term east-west for this type of traffic comes from network diagram drawings that usually depict local area network (LAN) traffic horizontally. In contrast, north-south traffic describes client-to-server traffic that moves between the data center and a location outside of the data center network. North-south traffic is typically depicted vertically to illustrate traffic that flows above or below the data center.
The volume of east-west traffic has grown as a result of virtualization and data center trends, such as converged infrastructure. Network controllers, virtual machines (VMs) and other devices perform various functions and services that previously ran on physical hardware. As these components relay data to each other, they increase traffic on the network, which can cause latency issues that negatively affect network performance. For example, if hosts on one access switch need to quickly communicate with systems on another access switch, uplinks among the access layer and aggregation layer become congested.
To address these issues, many organizations have migrated from traditional three-layer data center architectures to various forms of leaf-spine architectures. The simplicity of a leaf-spine approach is well-suited to handling higher volumes of east-west traffic. Leaf switches consolidate traffic from users and then connect to the spine, which comprises the network core of servers and storage systems.
