SniperElite 5 wouldn't be a WWII shooter without tanks to back up the waves of Nazi bad guys. However, unsurprisingly, they're not as simple to take out as human enemies. A single sniper bullet won't do the job. If you're struggling with them, we've got a guide on how to destroy tanks in Sniper Elite 5.

You'll come across tanks and armoured cars after a couple of missions, with some of the later ones requiring you to face them as part of the main objective. You have a few ways to approach them, but some are more viable than others.

All tanks in Rebellion's game have weak points that you need to focus on when you're trying to destroy them. The best thing to do is to press the right stick to bring out your binoculars and use them to analyse what parts need destroying - usually the two tracks and the engine at the rear.

The first thing you'll want to do is stop the tank from moving by destroying the tracks. Any explosive will work - grenades, mines, or TNT - but you will likely find Panzerfaust weapons in the buildings nearby.

Chuck some grenades at the wheels or fire come Panzerfaust rounds to disable the tank in no time. You'll then be able to shoot the Nazi who's firing the mounted weapon from the top to stop the constant barrage of bullets raining down on you.

Now for the part where you have to be a little more precise. Attacking the tank's main shell won't do anything. You somehow need to get around to the rear of it (which is why disabling it first is important) and fire at the engine there, down by the exhaust.

It's worth noting that we recommend you search for a Flare Gun as well while looking for nearby Panzerfaust. They're not always around, but finding one is incredibly useful as they're the best weapons for destroying tanks in Sniper Elite 5.

Fire the flare at a tank and wait for it to do the business. The single time we used one in our playthrough, the tank was destroyed in just one hit, so we didn't have to worry about using any of our other explosives.

On this page of our guide to Sniper Elite 4 we explain how to get rid of enemy tanks as part of your fourth mission - Lorino Dockyard. Our guide tells you about different ways to complete your objective - using mines or Panzerfaust.

Destroying the two tanks is one of the side objectives. Those tanks arrive at the harbor when you trigger the alarm. If you haven't triggered the alarm and you are near the tunnel in the south-east part of the map (M4,3) then you can place two teller mines (sometimes only one can be enough). Alternatively, you can place a different charge near the mine (the other charge is detonated by the mine's explosion). This is the tunnel from where the first tank comes out after the alarm (a few soldiers will follow the tank).

The second effective option to destroy the tank is to use Panzerfaust again. If you aim with great accuracy, you can destroy it with one/two shots. But don't try to get closer to the tank - unlike armored vehicles that you fought with before, tanks have better range of sight, they can shoot explosive missiles and can notice you even if you approach them from behind.

The Tiger I was a heavy tank used by Nazi Germany during WW2. It was in both East and West, with its first combat against the Western Allies occurring in Tunisia. The Tiger tank received a legendary reputation, being a feared weapon on the battlefield.

The Tiger tank is a common German Tank which appears in the first few missions. The tank will fire at the player with its main gun and will sometimes attack Russian soldiers. The Tiger is then replaced by the King Tiger in later levels.

The Tiger tank first appears in the mission Prologue were after the player kills Hans von Eisenberg he will need to flee from German soldiers and a Tiger tank. The Tiger Tank later appears in Schnberg Convoy and St. Olibartus Church but it will diminish in favor of the Russian IS-2. The Tiger appears for the last time in Brandenburg Gate where it is seen driving away.

A Tiger also appears is Assassinate the Fhrer as a last bit of protection before Hitler boards his private train and escapes. Another appears in The Landwehr Canal after the German officers are killed.

The Tiger tank can easily be defeated by shooting the caps of the fuel tanks next to the air filters,Tigers can also be destroyed with Dynamite, and Panzerfausts, mines wont destroy the Tiger but it will destroy the tracks stopping them from moving.

The Tiger returns in Sniper Elite III where it appears in the ending cutscene of the mission "Siege of Tobruk", between two Panzer III tanks. A division of Tiger tanks is defending the Kasserine Pass, where General Vahlen's office was located. Karl duels one of those Tigers after it blasts Brauer on top of a tower. A destroyed Tiger Tank can be found in the Multiplayer Map "Rat Run".

The Tiger in this game is much stronger and must be destroyed by shooting at its engine, however there is a thick armor plating on the back so it will take more than one shot to kill it, it also has a small MG34 machine gun in the front which can fire at the player, the player could also use mines to blow out the tracks and render the tank immobile.

The Tiger makes a brief appearance in Sniper Elite 4 where it appears in the beginning cutscene of the DLC mission Deathstorm Part 1: Inception where two Tigers can be seen fighting off American Sherman Tanks and soldiers in Italy 1944.

Diagrams of the Tiger I can be found in some missions, and a film showing the tank can be seen in Festung Guernsey. The Tiger I doesn't appear in Sniper Elite 5, instead the more heavily armored Tiger II appears.

Sniper Elite 5 is set during World War II which means you will encounter tanks and armored vehicles as you try to complete missions. Take a look at this How to Destroy Tanks guide to find out how you can deal with them if they are getting in your way and causing problems.

Eliminating tanks and armored vehicles that get in your way is not as simple as taking down human enemies with one shot from your sniper rifle. Tanks and armored vehicles will start appearing a couple of missions into the game, and it is important that you know how to deal with them because in later missions you will be required to face them as part of the main objective.

All tanks and armored vehicles in Sniper Elite 5 have weak points that you need to focus your attack on when you are trying to destroy them. In order to find out where these weak spots are you need to press the right stick of your controller to bring out your binoculars and use them to analyze what parts need destroying. In most cases this will be the two tracks and the engine at the rear. The first thing you need to do is immobilize the tank by destroying the tracks. This can be easily done using any explosives - mines, TNT, or grenades. If you search the nearby buildings you will more than likely find Panzerfaust weapons which you can use. All you need to do is make sure whatever you are using explodes at the wheels, and you will disable the tank. The next thing you need to do is target the Nazi who is firing the mounted weapon from the top of the tank so that you stop the constant hail of bullets that is coming down all around you.

You need to get yourself in a position where you will be able to attack the rear of the tank. Now that the tank is unable to move this should not be too much of a problem. All that is required now is that you continually fire explosives of any kind at the engine, down by the exhaust until the tank has been destroyed. If you have been lucky and found a flare gun while searching the buildings for Panzerfaust you will be able to save your explosives as firing one shot with it at the weak spot at the rear of the tank will destroy it.

Where do I place the satchel charge on a pantherturm? I've been walking around one for five minutes, and I don't see the spot. I tried reloading the checkpoint, and randomly holding the button all around it. What am I missing?

I think you're thinking of something different. The pantherturm is the turret that is planted in the ground, not a tank. There's only one enemy inside. There has to be a way to put a satchel charge on it before killing the gunner, since the achievement requires "manned" pantherturm kills.

I found that if a pantherturm or armored car still has someone alive in it, the satchel charge spot doesn't appear, which is contradictory to the achievement. When I was playing Allegro Fortress, there was a manned pantherturm and my co-op buddy noticed that it didn't have the satchel charge spot. I was playing the Infiltration DLC last night and there were two armored cars on a bridge (with the gunners still alive) and neither of those had the spots either.

I personally got all my "kills" on the pillbox in the Target Fuhrer mission (I saved right before I set the charge, set it then kept reloading until the achievement unlocked). One of my friends used the pillbox near the beginning of the Lorino Dockyard, so we know that pillboxes work.

My guide showcases the pantherturm in Mission 3 and the pillbox in Mission 4. I'm going to play Mission 3 again and if I can't set the charge, I'm going to amend the guide and take it out. I know for certain that you can't set a charge on the Sd.Kfz. 222 armored vehicle (the two on the bridge in Infiltration) with someone in it (which are parked so it was easy to walk up to them). There are also two half-tracks in Infiltration that appear as part of an optional objective and I also couldn't set a charge until both the driver and gunner in each were killed.
