NIMHANShas setup a data centre to accommodate different facilities required to run various hospital applications smoothly. This data centre is equipped with more than 19 servers, storage infrastructure and high speed network connectivity. Now more than 5 applications, related to different areas like project, salary and the like are running successfully from this data centre. New-generation-higher-end network devices like firewall, layer 3 switches are also included.

One new mini data centre using very advanced integrated infrastructure is almost ready. This will act as a near Disaster Recovery (DR) centre. Both these data centres are connected by 10gbs links incorporating high redundancy feature.

We are progressing with the implementation of upgraded storage infrastructure with DR by using storage to storage replicas as well as going to equip virtualization environment for hosting application with site recovery feature during the financial year 2014-15.

Other data have been collected using Psytools. We provide a short overview of the c-VEDA instruments. The detailed Excel resource file used to build the Psytools questionnaires is available via SFTP only:

s

Some of the questionnaires are used under restrictive licensing, therefore this Excel resource file must remain within the c-VEDA consortium. Please do not disseminate.

We have written specific software and scripts for imaging data collection and initial processing. We have published and maintain them in GitHub. We roughly describe the data acquisition and management process from the perspective of the databank operators in the cveda_databank wiki.

Data and samples are pseudonymized once before leaving acquisition centres. Then data are pseudonymized a second time by the database team, acting as a trusted third party, distinct from acquisition centres. We provide a list of valid participant identifiers to help end-users detect and investigate possible identifier errors.

(Dec 5, 2019) Editage, a Cactus Communications (CACTUS) solution that provides author and publication support to universities and research institutes, hosted a workshop on data curation and science communication for researchers at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) on November 28. NIMHANS is a premier medical institution located in Bengaluru. It is the largest training center for mental health and neuroscience professionals in India and is known for facilitating high-quality research.

The workshop saw a good turnout despite it being a busy period for the institute. Over 40 doctors and faculty members from across departments participated in the workshop. The workshop was well-received by the participants. The participants said that they found the workshop relevant for the research they carry out at the institute. Dr. Shivanee Shah also received praise for keeping the participants engaged throughout the workshop.

Established in 1958, IIT Bombay was the first institute to be set up with foreign assistance. The institute is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of engineering education and research. Reputed for the outstanding caliber of students graduating from its undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the institute attracts the best students from the country for its bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. Research and academic programs at IIT Bombay are driven by an outstanding faculty, many of whom are reputed for their research contributions internationally.

Objectives: Homeless Mentally Ill (HMI) patients represent a unique global problem and pose a challenge in treatment, management and rehabilitation services. There is sparse data on HMI patients in India. The objective of this paper is to study the clinical outcome and rehabilitation of HMI patients.

Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review of 'HMI' patients from 1st January 2002 to 31st December 2015, who were admitted under Department of Psychiatry at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India. Clinical outcomes were analysed by descriptive statistics and predictors of family reintegration were analysed by logistic regression model.

Conclusions: In our study majority of HMI patients improved at the time of discharge. Family reintegration was possible in about half of HMI patients after treatment. Mental retardation and clinical improvement are important predictors of family reintegration of HMI patients.

In his master thesis Thorsten Will proposes the substantial information content of protein complexes involving transcription factors in the context of gene regulatory networks, designs the first computational approaches to predict such complexes as well as their regulatory function and verifies the practicability using data of the well-studied yeast S.cereviseae. The novel insights offer extensive capabilities towards a better understanding of the combinatorial control driving transcriptional regulation. The Centre's Tele MANAS helpline has provided over 2 lakh consultations since its nationwide launch, yet it lacks a data privacy policy, as indicated by an RTI response from the helpline's nodal agency, Nimhans.

The union government launched Tele MANAS last October as a comprehensive tele-mental healthcare service. The helpline is coordinated by Nimhans, with each state providing the service through its own institutions.

Platforms that handle sensitive personal data, such as mental health records, should be required to have a privacy policy according to the IT Act and the recently enacted Digital Personal Data Protection Act. They should also ensure that users sign a consent form regarding their data beforehand. The policy should also outline users' rights and establish mechanisms for addressing grievances in case of data misuse.

Shivangi Rai, Deputy Coordinator at the Centre for Health Equity, Law, and Policy (C-HELP), which filed the RTI, stated, 'In the absence of a privacy policy, users would not know which aspects of the data they disclosed would be recorded, how it would be used, and with whom it might be shared.'

This is concerning, as several instances of health data breaches were recorded in India recently, such as the leaking of Covid patients' data which led to discrimination, and the cyberattack on AIIMS servers.

In response to C-HELP's RTI queries about the type of patient data recorded, who can access it, and whether the helpline has a Data Protection Officer, Nimhans only responded that the information does not fall within the purview of RTI. Rai noted that the institution did not explain why this information was not covered by RTI, leading them to file an appeal with the Information Commission.

In the absence of a privacy policy, users would not know which aspects of the data they disclosed would be recorded, how it would be used, and with whom it might be shared, said Shivangi Rai, Deputy Coordinator, C-HELP.

This early release has been obtained by manually processing the raw CSV files obtained from the Delosis server, according to this procedure. One of the main objectives of this effort was to assess the quality of the collected data, detect errors such as subject identifier misassignments and fix these errors.

In addition to Psytools data, we provide an excerpt of the recruitment files maintained by each recruitment centre. These recruitment files provide reference values for both the date of birth and sex of each subject. They have been checked and re-checked multiple times. The reference date of birth is not published, rather we use it internally to calculate the age in days associated to dates during de-identification. The reference value of sex is published and should be used in preference to values found in Psytools files.
