Hey all,

Here are my preliminary findings on the eating front.

Thursday night - do we want to eat in Phoenix before heading to the hotel? It looks like the eats in Wickenburg are not the greatest, so we might want to do that.

Friday - Start Line

Van 1 - It looks like there will be snacks for sale at the start, or you might want to bring breakfast foods.

Van 2 - We might also just want to bring stuff for our own breakfast. There is a place called the Horseshoe Cafe that we could check out.

Stop 6 (aprox 11am) - Van exchange: Tonapah, AZ

Van 1 - Here are some places nearby: Joe's and Alice's, Subway, Burger King, El Pollo Loco, Cracker Barrel, and Tin Top Bar and Grill.

Van 2 - We pick up our race info and start running!

Stop 12 (Aprox 6:30pm) - Van exchange: Willow Canyon High School

Van 1 - Run!

Van 2 - There are a couple Chinese places: Golden Wei and Big Buddah, Great Eagle Bar and Grill, and the requisite Subway and Pizza Hut.

Stop 18 (Aprox 12:15am) - Van Exchange: Anthem Community Center

Van 1 - Showers here! According to the Ragnar site, there will be a pasta dinner for sale at this exchange site. That's probably gonna be your best bet. There is an IHOP 15 miles south of here, as well as a Taco Bell that might be open.

Van 2 - Run on til morning.

Stop 24 (aprox 4am) - Van Exchange: Center of Cave Creek

Van 1 - wake up and run!

Van 2 - Snacks we bring. I'm still looking for something that might be open. There will probably be a truck stop or McDonalds somewhere, but we should be prepared for slim pickings.

Stop 30 (Aprox 9am) - Van Exchange: Fountain Hills High School

Van 1 - I saw a Starbucks and Burger King close to here, as well as DJs Bagel Cafe. There is also a place called Flapjacks, which serves pancakes (of all kinds) and eggs. Seems like it might hit the spot right about then.

Van 2 - Hurry up and finish!

Finish Line! Woo! We did it!

I'm still looking for more places and I'll let you know what I find.

Happy running,

Katie

I don't remember how long it takes to drive from Phoenix to Wickenburg but I'd say lets plan on an early dinner (4-5:00) somewhere in Phoenix and then those with reservations in Wickenburg just drive there and spend the night.  With a 5:00 am start, we probably have to check in for safety orientation about 4:00 am.

Dear Team:
Regarding food. Thank you to Katie for digging up some places. The main concern is Thursday for dinner. Can we assume that all of us will be in town by 5:00 pm? We should all meet at one central location at 5:00 pm. What I propose is that we meet at the Best Western Plus Tempe By the Mall. The address is 5300 South Priest Dr., Tempe, AZ 84283. The Van #2  runners will be staying at this hotel on Thursday night, so it is a good place to meet. There is hotel shuttle service from the airport to the hotel for those who are staying there. Krista is the only one from Van #2 that is not staying there. From the hotel we can go out to dinner because we will have our two vans meet at the hotel.

Katie is working on the restaurant for Thursday night. More info to come soon.
Carl

I plan to be in Wickenburg about noon so that should work for those traveling with me.  If any of the other runners in Van 1 want to meet at the motel and drive together to dinner that will work.

That sounds good. And that could also be a good place for us to park our car during the race and head up to wickenburg in the van with van 1.

a note to all (but, especially Doug), Kyle Fowles hasn't accepted the official Ragnar invite, so I haven't added him to this list.  I've also emailed him separately, and he didn't respond to that.

Doug, is he really in? Or do we still need to search for another runner?

And, I'm good with these dinner plans for Thursday.

I'll try to get him confirmed.

I was thinking, what about Pita Jungle? I can't figure out how to post a link to the website here, but it's pitajungle.com. They have veggies, rice, potatoes, meats, beans and tofu for the veggies, and beer and wine. We have one in Tucson, and I ate there over the weekend and I was thinking it seemed like a good place. There's one that's about 3 1/2 miles from the meeting spot in Tempe. Let me know what you think, and I can make a reservation for that Thursday.

Thanks,

Katie

I'm allergic to garlic. And, wow, I can even find 2 things I can eat on the menu. Sounds good to me.

I can go ahead and make a reservation if that's okay with everyone. Should we aim for 4:15? For all 12?

Thanks,

Katie

This is Kyle. Unfortunately my wife won't be able to join us. Thanks for thinking of us though.
